HomeMy Public PortalAbout019-1998 - General Ordinance - Amends Section 74.29 of the City Code (Residential Handicap Parking)ORDINANCE NO. 19-1998 A GENERAL ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 74.29 OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND CODE WHEREAS, City of Richmond Code Section 74.29 sets forth the procedures by which the Board of Public Works and Safety may reserve handicapped parking spaces throughout the City; and WHEREAS, Section 74.29(e) sets forth the requirements which must be met by an individual requesting a reserved handicapped space in a residential area; and WHEREAS, said section specifies that the person requesting a reserved handicapped parking space must not have off-street parking available; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to amend said section to provide that accessible off-street parking must not be available, thereby granting more discretion to the Board of Public Works and Safety in determining whether off-street parking that may be available is indeed accessible. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that Section 74.29(e)(1) shall be amended to read as follows: (e) Persons requesting reserved handicapped parking spaces in residential areas shall meet the following requirements: (1) The person requesting the reserved handicapped parking space must not have accessible off-street parking available at the site of the proposed handicapped parking space.
