CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.01-15
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF
ORDINANCE NO. 327 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY
WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 327, adding a
new section 831 to the city's code of ordinances establishing an urban commercial zoning district; and
WHEREAS, the urban commercial zoning district ordinance is approximately 30 pages in
length; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and
summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and
WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the
public of the intent and effect of the urban commercial zoning district ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the
city administrator -clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 327 to be
published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance:
Public Notice
The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 327. The ordinance
establishes a new urban commercial zoning district which will replace the existing urban
commercialJurban industrial district. The purpose of the district is to provide a district having a
visually pleasing, robust, compact mix of uses consisting primarily of small offices, retail sales and
service uses and some light manufacturing uses and from which nearby residential uses are buffered.
The ordinance establishes permitted, conditional and accessory uses within the zone. It establishes
development standards which are applicable to all uses and some which are specific to each permitted
or conditional use. The ordinance recognizes that most of the property which will be placed within this
district is already developed but that existing buildings will be expanded and modified in the future and
that some in -fill development will occur. The full text oo Dane No. 327 is available for inspection
at Medina city hall during regular business hours.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city
administrator -clerk -treasurer keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection
and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Carolyn Smith
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Ferris, Lane, Smith, Workman, and Zietlow
and the following voted against same: None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
