HomeMy Public PortalAbout2001-018 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ordinance No. 333 by Title and SummaryMember Carolyn Smith introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.01-18 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 333 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 333, an interim ordinance establishing and extending previous moratoria on development within specified areas of the community until the City has had an opportunity to complete amendments to its official controls consistent with its adopted and approved comprehensive plan; and WHEREAS, the interim ordinance is lengthy and contains a map; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the interim ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Medina that the city administrator -clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 333 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 333. The ordinance is an interim ordinance which extends the previous moratoria on development within some or all of the areas of the community zoned or designated as urban commercial, urban residential -urban reserve, rural commercial holding, multifamily residential and uptown Hamel. Portions of the city which have recently been rezoned to the new business park, industrial park or urban commercial districts will no longer be subject to a moratorium. A portion of the city previously designated for multifamily residential has been added to the moratorium. The interim ordinance will allow the City an opportunity to continue its review of its official controls, including its zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations, and to make amendments necessary for consistency with the City's new comprehensive plan. The moratorium will be in effect until July 3, 2001. The full text of Ordinance No. 333 is available at Medina city hall during regular business hours.
