HomeMy Public PortalAbout2001-035 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ordinance No. 338 by Title and SummaryMember Bruce Workman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.01-35 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 338 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 338, an ordinance adding a new section 826.25.1 et seq. to the city's code of ordinances establishing the rural residential -urban reserve zoning district; and WHEREAS, the rural residential -urban reserve zoning district ordinance is approximately 4 pages in length; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the new rural residential -urban reserve zoning district ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 338 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 338. The ordinance establishes a new rural residential -urban reserve zoning district. The purpose of the district is to provide a district which is consistent with the area guided for residential urban reserve in the city's comprehensive plan. The ordinance is intended for those areas of the community which will not develop at even rural residential densities until at least 2020. The ordinance establishes a minimum lot size of 40 acres with at least 5 acres of contiguous soils suitable for individual on -site sewage disposal systems. However, lots smaller than 40 acres may be established through a PUD or if a ghost plat is filed at the time of lot division which demonstrates the feasibility of subdividing the property in the future at a density no less than three ;.. re.
