RESOLUTION NO. 16-9218
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, SUSPENDING ALL CITY
COMMISSION OR COMMISSIONER SPONSORED
EVENTS, EXCLUDING COMMISSION MEETINGS AND
SPECIAL CALL COMMISSION MEETINGS, AND
INCLUDING CERTAIN OTHER MATTERS, UNTIL SUCH
TIME AS THE CITY HAS RECOVERED FROM ITS
FINANCIAL EMERGENCY; EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,The City is in a declared state of financial emergency; and
WHEREAS, The Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the City
to suspend all City Commission or Commissioner sponsored events, excluding
commission meeting and special call commission meetings, and certain other
matters, until such time as the City has recovered from its financial emergency; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The title, recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by
reference.
Section 2. All City Commission or Commissioner sponsored events,
excluding commission meetings and special call commission meetings, are
suspended until such time as the City has recovered from its financial
emergency.
Section 3. The City Commission hereby further suspends or limits the
following activities until such time as the City has recovered from its financial
emergency.
A. Credit card spending by Commissioners
Resolution No. 16-9218
B. Travel unless it is an emergency to meet with State officials
in Tallahassee, FL or Federal officials in Washington, D.C.
C. Conventions, including the Florida League of Cities
D. State of the City Address
E. Each Commissioner may refuel their vehicle once per month
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption by the City
Commission, and subject to the final approval by the State of Florida
Financial Oversight Board for the City of Opa-locka, FL.
