SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 16-5185 CONFIRMING
APPOINTMENTS OF CITY COMMISSIONERS TO CITY COMMISSIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to adopt proposed Resolution No. 16-5185 (Attachment
"A") confirming the appointment of City Commissioners.
BACKGROUND:
1. On April 18, 2016, staff advertised Commissioner openings on the City's website,
and Temple City Tribune.
2. On April19, 2016, City Council established the City Commissioner Recruitment Ad
Hoc Committee (Ad Hoc Committee) and appointed Mayor Pro Tern Sternquist
and Councilmember Man to the Ad Hoc Committee.
3. On April 29, 2016, staff received a total of 15 applications for the six commissioner
seats expiring on June 30, 2016.
4. On May 20, 2016, the Ad Hoc Committee conducted interviews with applicants not
currently serving on a City Commission.
5. On June 17, 2016, City Council considered and approved the Ad Hoc
Committee's recommendation to reappoint incumbent Commissioners without an
interview with full City Council. City Council reappointed Serge Haddad and Tom
O'Leary to the Planning Commission; Donna Georgino and Kristel Haddad to the
Parks and Recreation Commission; and Ousama Nimri and Danny Redmond to
the Transportation and Public Safety Commission with a term of office ending
June 30, 2018.

ANALYSIS:
The appointees to each of the City Commissions (i.e., Planning, Transportation and
Public Safety, Parks and Recreation, and Public Arts) will serve a 2 years term with
seats expiring June 30, 2018. The resolution of appointments is presented for City
Council's consideration and adoption. If appointed, the appointees will receive their
Oath of Office at the City Council Meeting of July 5, 2016. Appointments of the new
commissioners in July will ensure that the Commissions will be able to continue with
business as usual.
CONCLUSION:
The City Council is requested to adopt proposed Resolution No. 16-5185 appointing
Serge Haddad and Tom O'Leary to the Planning Commission; Donna Georgina and
Kristel Haddad to the Parks and Recreation Commission; and Ousama Nimri and
Danny Redmond to the Transportation and Public Safety Commission with a term of
office ending June 30, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17 City Budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY CONFIRMING APPOINTMENTS TO CITY COMMISSIONS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Serge Haddad and Tom O'Leary is hereby appointed to the Planning
Commission of City of Temple City. Said term to expire on June 30, 2018;
SECTION 2. That Ousama Nimri and Danny Redmond is hereby appointed to the
Transportation and Public Safety Commission of City of Temple City. Said term to expire on June 30,
2018;
SECTION 3. That Donna Georgina and Kristel Haddad is hereby appointed to the Parks and
Recreation Commission of City of Temple City. Said term to expire on June 30, 2018;
SECTION4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
