A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE ENGINEERTS REPORT,
DECLARING SAID COUNCIL�S INTENTION TO ORDER THE
" TMPROVEMENT OF CORTLAND STREET BETWEEN WRIGHT .
ROAD AND CHECK AVENUE, LOUISE AVENUE BETWEEN CORTLAND
STREET AND THE SOUTHERLY LINE OF LOT 5 OF THE
, SLAUSSON TRACT AND CHECK AVENUE BETWEEN CORTLAND
STREET AND THE NORTHERLY LINE OF SAID LOT 5 BY THE
, CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERS, AND FIXING THE TIME
OF PUBLIC HEARING.
, WHEREAS, there heretofore has been filed with the City
Engineer of the City�of Lynwood a petition bearing the signatures
,of a majority of the'property owners requestine the installation
of sanitiary sewers and appurtenant woric in Cortland Street between
Wright Road and Check,Avenue;'Louise Avenue between Cortland Street
� and the"southerly line of Lot 5 of the Slauason Tract, and Check
Avenue between Cortland Street and the northerly line of said Lot 5,
and
' 'WHEREAS, the Health 0£ficer of r,he County of Los Angeles
has recommended that sanitary sewers be installed in the hereinafter
proposed district as a measure necessary to the protection of public
health, and, ,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood has pro-
vided by Ordinance No. 737 a means of issuing permits and payments
` of fees for c,onnecting to a sanitary sewer constructed with funds

WHSREAS, the City Council on the 16th day o£ October 1g62
authorized the construction of the hereinafter described sanitary
sewers from funds furnished b,y the city, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared a report on the .
proposed improvement of Cortland Streefi, Louise Avenue and Check

Avenue by the constrfction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewers,
including manholes, pump station and all incidental and appurtenant
work,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Lynwood as £ollows:
Section l . The City Council of said city does hereby approve
said Engineer�i's report and orders the report, together with "Exhibit A"
to be filed with the City Clerk, to which reference is hereby made
for a full and complete description of the work to be done and the
property owners liable for the cost of said construction.
Section 2 . That in the opinion of the City Council of said
city the public interest and convenience require and it is the
intention of said City Council to order the following work or improve-
ment to be done, to wit:
Construction of 8-inch vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewers,
6-inch vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer house laterals, manholes and
sanitary sewer pump station, including all incidental and appurtenant
work in portions of Lot 5, Slausson Tract, as shown on map recorded in
Book 3, Page 348, Miscellaneous Records of the County Recorder, within
the following streets:
A. Cortland Street between the westerly line of Wright
Road, 56.5 feet wide, and the southerly prolongation
of a line 208 feet west of the boundary of said City
of Lynwood as said boundary existed on November 20,
1962 said southerly prolongation being the westerly
line of Check Avenue, 40 feet wide;
B. Louise Avenue between the center line of the afore- '
mentioned Cortland Street and the southerly line o£
said, Lot 5;
C. Check Avenue, 40 feet wide, between the easterly
prolongation of a line parallel with and distant
south 11.71 feet from the northerly line of said
Lot 5, and the easterly prolongation of the southerly
line of the a£orementioned Cortland Street.
D. The above mentioned pump station to be located at the '
southwest corner of property dedicated to the City
of Lynwood by the County of Los Angeles in a portion
of Lot 1 of said aforementioned Slausson Tract.
Section 3 . That the total estimated cost of said work or
improvement is the sum of Nineteen Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty-eight

and Forty-eight One-hundredths Dollars ($19,828.48), and that such
expenses shall be chargeable upon the`district benefited by the work
and liable for payment of the cost thereof.
Section 4 . Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 18th
day of December, 1962, at the hour of 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers
of the City Hall,-11330 Bullis Road, in the City of Lynwood, the City
Council will conduct a public hearing on said proposed improvement and
any and all persons having any objections or protests to said proposed
work or improvement or to the extent of the district to be liable for
the cost of said improvement may appear before said Cit,y Council and
show cause why said proposed work or improvement should not be
carried out, '
Section 5 . The City Clerk is hereby authorized to mail
a notice of public hearing to all persons owning real'.�roperty which
is proposed to be liable to pay any part of the cost of the work,
whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll
or as known to the City Clerk. Said notice of public hearing shall be
mailed at least fifteen (15) days prior to the date fixed for said
hearing.
