HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9224 Expanding the Approval of the use of Water and Sewer Reserve Account to Include Salaries and Salary Related Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 16-9224 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, EXPANDING THE APPROVAL OF THE USE OF WATER AND SEWER RESERVE ACCOUNT TO INCLUDE SALARIES AND SALARY-RELATED EXPENSES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida, previously approved a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to use funds from the City's Water and Sewer Reserve Account to pay the Salaries of the employees, as necessary; and WHEREAS, The finances of the City continue to be challenged and there is a need to pay salary-related expenses, such as insurance payments, retirement payments, union dues, etc., in addition to the salaries of the employees; and WHEREAS, It is the best interest of the City to allow the use of the Water and Sewer Reserve Account to pay City employee salaries and any expenses related thereto. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference; Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida, hereby authorizes the City Manager to use the funds in the Water and Sewer Reserve Account for employee salaries and the expenses related thereto. Section 3. The City Manager is to advise the Commission of the use of any funds and simultaneously provide the Commission with a plan for repayment of the funds within thirty (30) days of the transfer. Resolution No. 16-9224 Section 4. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption, and subject to the final approval by the State of Florida Financial Oversight Board for the City of Opa-locka, FL.
