HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9227 Use Funds in the City's General Fund Reserve Account to Pay Employee Salaries Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 16-9227 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO USE FUNDS IN THE CITY'S GENERAL FUND RESERVE ACCOUNT TO PAY EMPLOYEE SALARIES, SALARY RELATED EXPENSES AND OTHER NECESSARY OPERATING EXPENSES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The finances of the City continue to be challenged and there is a need to pay employee salaries, salary-related expenses, such as, insurance payments, retirement payments, union dues, necessary operating expenses, etc.; and WHEREAS, Chapter 19.6, Section 19.6-2 of the City Code of Ordinances permits the utilization of funds in the City's General Fund Reserve Account when such use is in the best interest of the City's welfare; and WHEREAS,The City Commission finds that it is the best interest of the City's welfare to allow the use of the funds in the General Fund Reserve Account to pay City employee salaries, salaried related expenses, necessary operating expenses, etc.; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida, hereby authorizes the City Manager to use the funds in General Fund Reserve Account for employee salaries, salary related expenses, necessary operating expenses, etc. Resolution No. 16-9227 Section 3. The City Manager is to advise the Commission of the use of any funds, and provide the Commission with a plan for repayment of the funds within thirty (30) days of the transfer. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption, and is subject to the final approval by the State of Florida Financial Oversight Board for the City of Opa-locka, FL.
