HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9232 Enter into and Agreement w/ The Florida League of Cities Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 16-9232 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES FLORIDA MUNICIPAL TRUST FOR PROPERTY, GENERAL LIABILITY AND WORKER COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2016 AND EXPIRING SEPTEMBER 30, 2017, ACCEPTING AND IMPLENTING THE REQUIRED CONDITIONS AT A COST OF $1,789,190.00; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS; The City's current insurer for Property, General Liability and Workers Compensation is the Florida League of Cities Florida Municipal Trust; and WHEREAS, The City's staff has worked diligently with the Florida League of Cities Florida Municipal Trust to insure compliance, and minimize the City's risk and exposure; and WHEREAS, The City's staff believes and recommends that is in the best interest of the City to authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Florida League of Cities Florida Municipal Trust to provide Property, General Liability and Workers Compensation insurance coverage for the Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2016 and expiring September 30, 2017, at a cost of$1,789,190.00; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission hereby accepts staff recommendation and authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Florida League of Cities Florida Municipal Trust to provide Property, General Liability and 1 Resolution No. 16-9232 Workers Compensation insurance coverage for the Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2016 and expiring September 30, 2017, at a cost of$1,789,190.00.
