HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9237 Engage in Eployment Outside of City as an Attorney for Yvette Harrell Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 16-9237 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENGAGE IN EMPLOYMENT OUTSIDE OF CITY AS AN ATTORNEY FOR YJ HARRELL, PLLC,; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission appointed Ms. Yvette Harrell as City Manager on August 2, 2016; and WHEREAS, Ms. Harrell is attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, prior to being appointed City Manager, Ms. Harrell owned and operated YJ Harrell, PLLC, a law firm; and WHEREAS, Ms. Harrell currently represents clients of her law firm and the representation of some of those clients will continue long into the future; and WHEREAS, the City does not have a direct policy on the Outside Employment, but pursuant to Section 2-11.1 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida, requires Municipal Employees to file an Outside Disclosure Statement (EXHIBIT "A"); and WHEREAS, there are no perceived or real conflicts with Ms. Harrell's law practice and her responsibilities as City Manager; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference; Resolution No. 16-9237 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to engage in outside employment as an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and the District of Columbia. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of September, 2016. /—**■ yra L.
