HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9244 Enter Into An Agreement not to Exceed 120 Days w/Universal Waste Services Sponsored by: Commissioner Riley RESOLUTION NO. 16-9244 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT, NOT TO EXCEED 120 DAYS, WITH UNIVERSAL WASTE SERVICES (UWS) OF FLORIDA, INC., TO PROVIDE CITYWIDE RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The City Commission approved the issuance of RFP: 16-3103200 for Citywide Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services; and WHEREAS, The current agreements with UWS to provide Citywide Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services is set to expire on September 30, 2016; and WHEREAS, There are pending bid protests of RFP 16-3103200 which will not afford the City an opportunity to complete the bid protests process and select a new provider for Citywide Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services; and WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the City to enter into agreements with the City's current provider for Citywide Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services for a period not to exceed 120 days. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Resolution No. 16-9244 Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida hereby directs and authorizes the City Manager to enter into agreements with the City's current provider for Citywide Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services for a period not to exceed 120 days. Section 3. The City Manager shall have the authority to recommend to the City Commission the termination of the agreements prior to the expiration of the 120-day period. Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption, and is subject to the approval of the State of Florida Financial Oversight Board.
