THE CITY.OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, STATING g, THE POSITION OF THE CITY OF I,YNWOOD WITH g RESPECT TO DOCKET N0 5395 ET AL., SOUTHERN ry ROCKY MOUNTAIN LOCAL 5ERVICE CASE, BEFORE � g THE CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD 9 10 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a municipal.corporation 11 situated in the County of Los Angeles, California; and 12 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood had a population of 13 approximately 25,000 persons in 1950, and a population of 31 ,614 14 in December, 1960;'and " � Z5 WHETtEAS, there is located in the City of I�mwood the ls industrial firms of 47estern Gear Company, employing approximately 17 300 person"s; Jorgensen Steel Company, employing between 200 and 18 300 persons; Whitaker Valve Company, employing approx3mately 400 19 persons, and Pacific Iron and Steel Company, employing approxi- j 20 mately 500 persons; and . 2T WHEREAS, Western Gear Company has plants alon� the , 22 Pacific Coast and is in need of scheduled air transportation; and I 23 WHEREAS, the estimated driving time between Lynwood 2� and International Airport in Los Angeles is forty-five minutes, 25 and the estimated driving time between the City of Lynwood and 26 the Long Beach Municipal Airport is approximately thirty minutes; I 27 and � 28 T,dHEREAS, there is a need for scheduled air transportation 29 at the Long Beach Municipal Airport to serve the residents o£ the � 30 City of Lynwood and surroundin� area; % �31 NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Lynwood resolves as , a 32 � follows: , _1_ � ,.... . . . . , - 1 Section 1. That �the neecls and convenience of the 2 traveling public and business firms make it necessary that 3 additional and improved scheduled air service be provided at 4 the Long Beach•Municipal Alrport in order to better serve the 5, traveling public and employees of industrial concerns in the 6 City of Lynwood. That the Long Beach Municipal Airport should 7 be desi$nated as a terminal or intermediate point on all domestic � 8 airline routes presently-certificated, or whieh may be certificate 9 as a result of the decisions in the Southern Rocky Mountaln�Loca1 _.l0 Service Case, Docket No 5395 et al „ to the extent possible,, 11 Sec, 2. The adoption by the City Council of this 12 resolution is not to be construed as endorsing or favoring the 13 application of any specific airline in this proceeding. The 14 interest of the City of Lynwood is to assist the Civil Aeronautics 15 Board in its determination of the need for new and improved 16 scheduled airline service between the Long Beach Municipal Airport 17 �and the other points involved in the Southern Rocky Mountain 18 Local Service Case, Docket No 5395 et al. .
