RESOLUTION NO.02-16
RESOLUTION NAMING APRIL 11, 2002 JOHN FERRIS DAY
IN THE CITY OF MEDINA AND THANKING JOHN FERRIS FOR
HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF MEDINA
WHEREAS, John Ferris was appointed to the Planning Commission in February 1991
and served until December 1992; and
WHEREAS, John Ferris was elected to the City Council in 1992 and served as a Council
Member from January 1993 until December 1996; and
WHEREAS, John Ferris was elected to the first of two terms as Mayor of Medina in
1995 and served as Mayor from January 1996 to February 2002, and
WHEREAS, during the time John Ferris served the City of Medina the City has grown
and changed yet preserved many of the City's valuable natural assets. Evidence of these changes
can be shown by the many business that have located in Medina as well as the number of
subdivisions that have been approved. Several examples are listed below:

WHEREAS, John has always been a strong and fair advocate for the City and its
residents; and
WHEREAS, John has been appreciated by his fellow Council Members, staff, business
owners, residents, and others and will be missed;
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Medina City Council that April 11, 2002 be
designated as John B. Ferris day in the City of Medina, Minnesota;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Medina City Council that John be
commemorated and thanked for his work and dedication as a member of the Planning
Commission, City Council and as Mayor of Medina. We all wish him well.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Bruce Workman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Smith, Supel, Workman, and Zietlow
and the following voted against: None Absent: Lane
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
