Call to Order
Chair Telman called the meeting to order at 6 : 13 p .m . The Capital Plan was moved to after Administrators ' reports .

PRIORITY BUSINESS
Administrators' Reports
Principals ' reports were included in the packet . There were no comments or questions .
Susan Murray, Director of Nutrition and Food Service reported that the concession stand at the Whitecap ' s Field
brought in $ 14,000 . Two Nauset students worked throughout the summer along with a staff member from the
cafeteria. She thanked Barry Schofield for his assistance and indicated the money will be used to purchase new
equipment and help offset the lunch program.
Keith Gauley' s report was included in the packet. He indicated that MCAS scores are out and will be reviewed with
all committees in November. Parents have not received results yet. He also indicated there is no accountability level
and that all must meet the attendance requirement.
Superintendent' s report — Mr. Gauley gave the Superintendent' s report. He mentioned the showing of " Screenagers"
which is a video about how technology impacts children ' s development. He also reviewed the budget guidelines and
dates with the committee .
Capital Plan
Jim Nowack reviewed the FY 19 Capital Plan with the Committee that included replacement of rotten trim at Eddy
School - $ 11 , 000, scope of work and bid document for boiler replacement at Stony Brook - $70,000, Repair
HVAC/plumbing and electrical at both schools $ 15 ,000, replace technology at both schools - $50,000 and painting
interior and exterior at both schools per the scheduled painting program Ito $25 ,000 . Mr. Schofield, Head of
Maintenance, was present to answer questions . Mr. Nowack reviewed the plans for years 2020-2023 .
Motion :
On a motion by Marie Enochty, seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted unanimously, 4 yeas, to approve the Capital
Plan for FY19-23 .
Mr. Gauley distributed the October 1 Enrollment Report and the Enrollment Trends Report for the Committee to
review. It was noted that in general enrollment is flat across the District.
FY18 Budget Review
Ms . Venditti reviewed the expenditure report for Stony Brook Elementary School with the committee noting a balance
of $257,217 . She indicated that salaries, utilizes, substitutes, transportation and special needs transportation have been
encumbered . She reviewed the variances in line items with the Committee . Stony Brook had 2 retirements submitted
after the budget was passed .

Ms . Venditti reviewed the expenditure report for Eddy Elementary School with the committee noting a balance of
$ 71 , 130 . Account #9100 — 2 unanticipated out-of-district placements ( 1 full year and 1 45 -day placement) has a
negative balance of -$ 80, 738 . This will be covered with the two budgets .
Policv Updates
Dave Telman reviewed the policy changes with the committee indicating the Policy Subcommittee reviewed the minor
language changes as suggested by MASC and voted to move them forward to committees for a first reading.
Motion :
On a motion by Jessica Larsen, seconded by Marie Enochty, it was voted unanimously to approve the policy changes
as submitted for a first reading.
MASC Delegate and Resolutions,
It was the consensus of the Committee to vote affirmatively to support the MASC Resolutions ,
Jessica Larsen was chosen to be the Brewster School Committee Delegate .
Transportation
Ms . Venditti reported that the Transportation Subcommittee is working on the presentation for the Joint School
Committee meeting. Will meet again on Tuesday to solidify the presentations and documents .
Reports and Information
Preschool Enrollment — Included in the packet.
Cape Cod Collaborative — Jessica Larsen that they are just beginning the school year and are welcoming new
members .
School Councils — No meeting yet for Stony. The Eddy School Council met and Jessica Larsen reported that they are
looking at the School Improvement Plan and the mission statement for some updates in language.
PTO — Bridget Dickson, Treasurer of the PTO indicated they will have fundraisers for approval in November.
Policy Subcommittee — Dave Telman indicated that the subcommittee is meeting to review the policies on social
media with Barbara Lavoine ,
Transportation Subcommittee — no report
Substance Abuse Subcommittee — Jessica Larsen reported the subcommittee is working on a survey for elementary
school students . She also reported that there was a showing of "Generation Found. " The panel talked about Recovery
Schools on Cape Cod .
Approval of Minutes
On a motion by Marie Enochty seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted 4 yeas to approve the minutes of
September 21 , 2017 .
Adjournment
On a motion by Jessica Larsen, seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at
7 : 00 p . m .
