' Brewster Town Hall Prdgdnt for the Committee : David Telman, Jessica Larsen, Claire Gradone, Marie Enochty Present for the Administration: Thomas Conrad, Keith Gauley, Giovanna Venditti, Joanna Hughes, Patty Allen Call to Order Chair Telman called the meeting to order at 6 : 04 p .m. Citizens Sneak None PRIORITY BUSINESS Administrators ' Reports Principal' s Report Principals ' reports were included in the packet. There were no questions . Mr. Gauley ' s report was included in the packet. If members have questions, send him an email . Motion: On a motion by Marie Enochty, seconded by Jessica Larsen, it was voted 4 yeas to accept gifts from the Cape Cod Five, with gratitude . Principal Hughes reported that only 4 exchange students will be coming from China due to issues with getting Visas . Superintendent' s Report Superintendent Conrad reported that he has been working on his homework goal . He read the book, Beyond Measures. attended professional development day at NRMS discussing with teachers various aspects of homework . A parent forum was held regarding honors and high honors where approximately 75 parents were in attendance . He is working on presenting budgets to Finance Committees and Selectmen in the four towns . He met with Chair Telman and Mr. Embury about the possibility of consolidation . Mr. Embury shared his ideas and followed this up with a letter to the Superintendent. The advisory committee will meet to review the letter. He also shared that he is working with budgets at all schools and in the region . Ms . Enochty requested that homework policies, as it relates to early grades, should be separated from homework policies for older grades . Ms . Larsen expressed her concerns about the process of consolidation which should be transparent and focused on students . FY18 Budget Giovanna Venditti, Director of Finance and Operations, reviewed the expenditure report for Stony Brook Elementary School indicating a balance of $249, 685 . Encumbrance for 2 long terms subs in not reflected in the report which is $68,915 which would bring the budget balance to $ 180, 770 . She reviewed the expenditure report of Eddy elementary that has a -$29,289 balance . They were informed of the 45 day placement for a student at Cape Cod Collaborative pending the team review may be longer, so tuition for the remainder of the school year has been budgeted . (status has not yet been determined) Ms . Venditti indicated that Stony brook has a substantial balance at this time and may use funds at Stony Brook for overage at the Eddy School , Brewster School Committee Minutes - January 18, 2018 [ 1 ) FY19 Budget The Superintendent distributed the combined budgets for Stony Brook Elementary and Eddy Elementary that totaled $7, 602, 929 or a $ 178,677 increase or 2 .41 % . He was pleased to report that the healthcare figures came in with a 6 % increase and not a 12% increase as was anticipated. Principal Hughes reviewed the hours for the Eddy secretary during the year and hours during the summer months, 7 . 5 days hours per day, 5 days per week. It was noted that the savings from transportation has not been incorporated in the budget. If the future they will put money into the line item for McKinney-Vento . Principal Allen reviewed the salary Instructional Coordinator line item noting the increase of $2, 700 for the Coordinator for Social/Emotional Learning commitment at all grade levels . The Superintendent indicated that the Public Hearing for the FY 19 budget will take place in February. Reports and Information Preschool Enrollment — Included in packet. Cape Cod Collaborative — Jessica Larsen reported that they are working on the evaluation for the Executive Director. School Councils — Claire Gradone reported that the Eddy School Council continues to work on the School Improvement Plan and a mission statement. PTO — Claire Gradone reported on the numerous fundraising efforts by the PTO . Policy Subcommittee — No report Transportation Subcommittee — No report Substance Abuse Subcommittee — No report Consolidation — Jessica Larsen reported that the advisory committee met and decided they were not going to take any steps . Chair Telman indicated that they wanted further information from the Town . He would like the advisory committee to look at the information and come back to the committee with recommendations of what needs to be done . Approval of Minutes On a motion by Jessica Larsen seconded by Marie Enochty, it was voted unanimously to approve the minutes of December 19, 2018 as amended.
