Wellfleet: Mort Inger, Jan Plaue, Jill Putnam, Martha Gordon Present for the Administration : Thomas Conrad, Keith Gauley, Giovanna Venditti Call to Order Chair Lindahl called the meeting to order at 7 : 00 p .m . Citizens Sneak None PRIORITY BUSINESS Mid Cycle Superintendent' s Evaluation Superintendent Conrad reviewed some of the work he is doing on his goals and standards to this point in the year. Included in his Goals are : 1 . Analysis of the role, use and purpose of homework throughout the District. Members asked that part of the research on homework should reveal if it is or is not related to student success . 2 . To develop a year-long timetable for the implementation of our District-wide Social/Emotional Program . The Superintendent is researching the Botvin Program that deals with anxiety, depression and suicide tendency. 3 . To develop a deeper understanding of the Massachusetts Building Authority Program . He reviewed some of the evidence on his work pertaining to each goal . He also reviewed the Standards that include Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Management and Operations and Family and Community Engagement. He highlighted some of the things he is doing in each of those areas including monthly meetings, the schedule of the school psychologists , visitation to elementary IB school , MI autonomous car, working with Principals on observations, testing and using data to improve student 11 Page Joint SC Meeting , January 25 , 2018 learning, reunification process, family therapy program, budgets, visits to schools, meetings with PT groups, expanding athletic opportunities at the Middle School, use of facilities , and transportation, to name a few. The Superintendent indicated this is just a snapshot of what he is involved in along with Committee meetings which is more than 60% of his time. He indicated that he continues to have an open door policy, the days are very full . 2018-2019 School Calendar Keith Gauley reviewed the 2018-2019 school calendar highlighting opening day for staff and students, report card prep day at the elementary school and the District-wide Professional Development day. He indicated there are no major changes in vacation weeks . The last day of school is June 21 without a snow day being used and June 28 with 5 snow days being used . The contract with the NEA has a start date after Labor Day but he asked the NEA if they would consider starting before Labor Day. This is presently being discussed by the NEA, so no vote needs to be taken. Bus Transportation Update The Superintendent indicated that the committee has finished its work with reviewing the major contract and have sent it back to Paul Hilton at the Cape Cod Collaborative with revisions . They are moving forward with the bus order and Mr. Hilton is doing last minute pricing . They are also moving forward with a Superintendent' s Spotlight Show dedicated to the propane issue . Approval of Minutes On a motion by Deb Beal, seconded by Jan Plaue , it was voted to approve the minutes of December 7 , 2017 as amended . L ,J Brewster Water Commissioners Meeting May 4 , 2018 BREIll S T Eh' ; 0 !JlH L E R K Meeting was called to order at 8 : 38 AM by Susan Brown , member . Those present were : Doug Wilcock , Cynthia Baran , William Porter , Sherry Theuret , Administrative Supervisor and Paul Anderson , Superintendent . TOWN/CITIZEN PARTICIPATION : o SUPERINTENDENT ' S REPORT : ■ Report of SCADA Project o System upgrade near completion . Working out system software issues . Estimated completion in a few weeks . ■ Tank Project o Draining of the tank will be completed by next week . Preparation to paint tank to follow and approximate time of completion is one month . ■ Flushing o Flushing of the water mains has begun but will slow down with draining of tank . • Working on Private Property o Speaking with Town Council to create waiver to work on private property in Emergency Cases Only . ■ Painting of Fire Hydrants o Approval to hire two seasonal employees to paint the fire hydrants and assisting work crews in daily operations over the summer. Opening has been posted in newspaper and website . o REPORT FROM OFFICE MANAGER ■ Utility Cloud o Working with tech support for assistance of uploading property files and as- builts of water services . ■ Rules and Regulations o Will present final changes for approval for the Water Commissioners . After the final approval the revised Rules and Regulations will be submitted to the Town Council for approval . ■ Monthly Reports o Currently monthly reports are only submitted to the Accounting Department . Effective immediately a copy of all monthly reports will be sent out via : email to the Water Commissioners . This will provide a better understanding of the water department budget on a monthly basis . o Topics the Chair did not reasonably anticipate . ■ Article 29 o42 acres land purchase in zone 2 land off of Route 137 . o It' s the second largest remaining unprotected property in Brewster. o The purchase of this land will : o Protect the drinking water supply o Wildlife habitat Brewster Water Commissioners Meeting May 4 , 2018 o Freshwater pond access o Forest preservation o Passive recreation well suited for hiking and nature trails o Further information : • httD : //brewsterconservationtrust. ora /vote -ves- on-article -29 / o Water Commissioners are in support of the purchase o Date of Next Meeting Friday , June 8th @ 8 : 30 AM July 13th @ 8 : 30 AM Susan Brown moved to adjourn the meeting at 9 : 15 AM — 2nd by Doug Wilcock .
