HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-17-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 17, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey and City Attorney Bob Bever in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Metzger made a motion to approve the minutes for April 10, 2003 after the correction of Coty Attorney, instead of City Attorney in the first paragraph, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $192,852.50 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Goodwin read a request from the Department of Traffic Safety of the Richmond Police Department to close Industries Road between Flatly Road and Salisbury Road on Thursday, April 24, 2003 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for Emergency Vehicle Operations Course training (EVOC). Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin read a request for a Handicapped Parking sign for Marvin Wheeler at 119 South 13th Street. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a request from Lt. Tom Porfidio of the Youth Services Division of the Richmond Police Department, to close the lower City Building parking lot and Main street between 3rd and 4th Streets on Saturday, May 17, 2003 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for the annual D.A.R.E. Day. This will include games, displays, entertainment and various other events for D.A.R.E. students. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. Goodwin read a request from Bruce Wissel, President of Reeveston Place Neighborhood Association requesting to close Reeveston Road between 19th and 21st on June 29, 2002 during the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for their annual picnic. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry. E. Goodwin requested an access permit at 2900 Oxford Drive. Henry moved to approve, subject to conditions of Engineering, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. F. Goodwin read a second request for an access permit at 813 Kensington. Metzger moved to approve, subject to conditions of Engineering, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. The following bids were opened for the Northwest 5th Street improvements project: Milestone, $298,550.35; L.D. DeWeese Co., Tipp City, Ohio $245,505;Bowlin Construction, Losantville, Indiana, $243,335.00. These bids will be reviewed by the engineering department and awarded at a later date. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
