HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-21-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 21, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 21 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Henry made a motion to approve the minutes for August 14, 2003, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $217,995.72 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Goodwin requested approval for firefighter Lt. Vince DeVito grievance hearing on Wednesday September 10, 2003 at 5 p.m. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Pat James and Barbara Pebworth of the Richmond Rotary Club requested permission to hang signs on U.S. 40 East and U.S. 40 West in the City for the Carson and Barnes Circus that will be in Richmond on August 28, 2003. Goodwin said that in order to do that they would have to get permission from the State as they are National Highway's and the City has no jurisdiction over them. James said that they would just like to hang them somewhere and would work with Street Commissioner Gordon Moore to find the appropriate place. Henry moved to approve with the condition that Moore choose the location, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a letter from Captain Don Ponder of the Department of Traffic Safety of the Richmond Police Department requesting permission to close the 1100 Block of North "G" Street on Saturday August 23, 2003 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a neighborhood block party. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARDS A. Gordon Moore Street Commissioner recommended the bid to install a storm sewer and catch basin and replace the sidewalk at The Hall of Fame- at North 9th and "A" Streets, be awarded to Mike Delucio & Son for $17,843. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin requested that the bid for landscaping the right-of-ways be awarded to Rinehart's Lawncare for: U.S. 27 $1,152, U.S. 40 $8,560, bushes $42 and trees $231 each. A maintenance fee, watering and fertilizer, for 2004 totaled $4,173. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voce vote. Board of Works Minutes cont'd.
