RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO THE PROPOSED ASSEMBLY
DSSTRICT RE�PPORTIONMENT PLANS AND SUBMITTING
d�N ALTERNdSTE PROPOSAL,
WHEREAS„ it is the duty of the Legislature to reapportion
Assembly districts according to population following the lg6o Eederal
census, and ; . � - i
WFIEREi�S, the reapportionment plan proposed by the Assembly
Committee on Elections and Reapportionment would remove the City of r
Lynwood £rom association with all other small southeast cities with �
which they have common bonds of interest, and place it in a metro-
politan area, and �
WHEREAS, this would result in creating an Assembly district,
the components of which do not have common problems and similar
interests, and cause a separation of an area long unified in represen-
tation and community interests, and ,
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a natural part of the cities i
in the southeast area, which represent a sizable block of small cities
whieh for many years have met together to study and solve common
problems of municipal government, including mutual aid among fire and '
police departments relating to disaster, and planning, transportation, ,
and education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the �
City of Lynwood as.follows:

1. That the City Council o£ the City o£ Lynwood strongly
objects to the proposed reapportionment of Assembly districts as it �
affects the City of Lynwood. I
2. That the City Council of the City of Lynwood submits to I
the Elections and Reapportionment Committee a proposal as set forth on i
..�-""`the�attached map and made a part of this resolution. ,
