HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-20-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 20, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Henry made a motion to approve the minutes for February 13, 2003 second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $401,937.84 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A Goodwin requested approval for the Petal and Stem Club to hold their annual plant sale from 7 A.M. to 1 P.M. on May 9, 2003 at the parking lot at 10th and Main Streets. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CONTRACTS A. Goodwin requested that Harvey explain the contracts with J.F. Molloy and Associates as the 3rd party administrator and J.F Molloy Medical Managements 3d party to oversee large claims. Harvey said the contracts were inter -related in that they provide administration of medical, dental, and vision benefits plans for City Employees and certain other functions relating to insurance coverage. He said they will also oversee large claims including extended hospital stays, and emergency services. Henry made a motion to approve both contract's, subject to the director being able to sign on behalf of the board, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin explained that the Weights and Measures is an interlocal contract with the County Commissioners for a City Inspector to check gas pumps in Wayne County, and check pharmacies to make sure the scales are accurate. This will be done at the cost of $20,000 to be paid on or before March 30, 2003 and that by December 31, 2003 the City Inspector will certify that all inspections have been made within the County by statute and confirm to the County in writing. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENINGS A. Bids were opened for the survey along Bridge Avenue and they are: Dave Winemiller and Associates for $7,950 and Beals Surveying Corp. for $2,000. These bids will be taken under advisement and brought back to the board at a later date. BID AWARD A. Goodwin read a letter from Street Commissioner Gordon E. Moore requesting approval for a bid to be awarded to Morgan Business Equipment for a Xerox Copier, in the amount of $3,690 and a maintenance contract for one year in the amount of $450. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
