RESOLUTION OF INTENTION IN THE M2lTTER OF THE
IMPROVEMENT OF PORTIONS OF UNNd�MED STREETS
COMMONLY KNOWN WS CORTLAND AVENUE AND LOUISE
AVENUE, AND A PRNATE STREET COMMONLY KNOWN
AS CHECK AVENUE, �1LL E�.STERLY OF WRIGHT R0�1D,
BY THE CONSTRUCTZON OF VITRIFIED CL�Y PIPE
SANITARY SEWERS, TOGETHER WITH ,9iLL INCIDENTAL
1�ND APPURTEN,�NT WORK.
WHEREA5, pursuant to the provisions of Division 4 of the
Streets and Highway Code, cited as the "Special Assessment Investi-
gation Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1g31," as amended, the
City Council of the City of Lynwood has determined that the improve-
ment of portions of unnamed streets commonly known as Cortland Avenue
and Louise Avenue, and a private street commonly known as Check
Avenue, all easterly of Wright Road, as proposed in Resolution No.
61-45 of said city is feasible and that public interest, convenience
and necessity require the improvement substantially as set forth in
said report, and
WHERE�AS, said City Council has found that the lands to be
assessed will be able to stand the burden of the proposed assessment,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Lynwood as follows:
Section 1 . That in the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Lynwood the public interest and convenience require and it is
the intention of said City Council to order the following work or
improvement to be done, to wit:
Construction of 8 inch vitrified elay pipe sanitary sewers,
6 inch vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer house laterals, manholes,
and sanitary sewer pump station, including all incidental and appur-

tenant work, in portions of Lot 5, Slausson Tract, as shown on map
recorded in Book 3, Page 348, Miscellaneous Records of the County
Recorder, within the following public and private streets;
A dedicated street commonly known as Cortland Avenue
between the westerly line of Wright Road 56.5i wide,
and the southerly prolongation o£ a line 208� west
of the boundary of the City of Lynwood, as said

boundary existed on September 27, 1961, said
southerly prolongated line being the westerly line
of a private street known as Check Avenue, 40t wide;
A dedicated street commonly known as Louise Avenue,
between the center line of the a£orementioned Cortland,
' Avenue and the southerly line of said Lot 5;
A private street commonly known as Check Avenue, 40F
wide, between the easterly prolongation of a line
parallel with and distant south 11.71 feet from the
northerly line of said Lot 5 and the easterly pro-
longation of the southerly line of the aforementioned
Cortland Avenue;
The above mentioned pump station to be located at the
southwest corner of the property dedicated to the City
of Lynwood by the County of Los Angeles, being a portion
of Lot l, Slausson Tract, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, recorded in Book 3, Page 348 of Mis-
cellaneous Records on file in the office of the County
recorder of said county, said property being commonly
known as Lugo Park.
Al1 of said work or improvement shall be performed in the
public ways, except as described above, and between the limits herein-
before designated except where the plans indicate that said worlc shall
be omitted.
That all of the work or improvement aforesaid shall be done
and per£ormed in accordance with and to the grades shown on plans and
specifications No. 1g61-L-3 on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said city. Said plans are hereby referred to for a full and complete
description of said proposed work and for the grades to which the work
is to be done, and said plans and specifications are by reference
made a part hereof and shall govern for a11 details of the proposed
work.
That the total estimated cost of said work or improvement is
the sum of Nineteen Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-five and No/100ths
Dollars ($19,235.00).
Section 2 . That said contemplated work or improvement, in
the opinion of the City Council, is of more than local or ordinary
public benefit, and said City Council hereby determines and declares
that the district to be benefited by said work or improvement, and to l�
assessed to pay the cost and expenses of such work or improvement, is
shown on Plan No. 1961-L-4 on £ile in the of£ice of the City Clerk of

said city, to which reference is hereby made for a full and complete
description of the aasessment district.
Section 3 . The City Council hereby deter•mines and declares
that serial bonds shall be issued in the manner and form provided in
Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code, cited as "The Improvement
Act of lgll," as amended, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent
per annum to represent each assessment of Fifty Dollare ($50.00) or
over remaining unpaid for thirty days after the date of recordation
of the warrant; said serial bonds shall extend ovei a period ending
nine ,years from the second day of January next succeeding the next
October 15th following their date. Said bonds and interest thereon
shall be paid at the office of the City Treasurer and the same shall be
disbursed by him, all as provided in said "Improvement Act of 1911,"
as amended.
Section 4 . Notice is hereby given that the provisions of
that certain Act of the Legislature of the State of California desig-
nated as the Streets and Highways Code, Division 4, cited as the
"Special Assessment Investigation Limitation and Majority Protest �et
of 1g31 as amended, have heretofore been fully complied with and all
the reports required under the provisions of said act are on file in
the off3ce of the City Clerk of said city, open to public inspection
and may there be examined by all interested persons.
Section 5 . The proceedings for the aforesaid work or improve-
ment shall be taken under an act of the Legislature of the State of
California designated as the Streets and Highways Code, Division 7,
cited as the ° Improvement Act of 1911," and amendments thereto.
I Section 6. The City Engineer is hereby directed to make a
diagram of the property afPected or benefited by said proposed work or
improvement as described herein and to be assessed to pay the cost and
expenses o£ said work, showing each separate lot, piece, or parcel of
land and the dimensions of each such lot, piece, or parcel of land and
the relative location of the same to the work or improvement proposed
to be done, all within the limits of said assessment district.

Section 7. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 7th
day of November 1961 at the hour of 7:30 p.m, at the Council Chambers
in the City Hal1, 11330 Bullis Road, in the City o£ Lynwood, any and
all persons having any objections or protests to said proposed work or
impro✓ement, or to the extent of the district to be assessed or to the
grades to which the work is proposed to be done, may appear before said
City Council and show cause why said proposed work or improvement should
not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
Section 8 . The City Engineer, who is Superintendent of
Streets, is hereby directed to post notices of the passage of this
Resolution in the time, £orm and manner required by law. �
Section 9 . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this resolution by the City Council of said City of Lynwood, and cause
the same to be published twice in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper pub-
lished and circulated weekly in said city, and hereby designated by
said City Council for the purposes aforesaid. The City Clerk is also
directed to mail notices of the adoption of this resolution of intention
in the time, form, and manner, and to the persons, all as provided in
.��tisaid "Improvement Act of 1911," as amended.
