HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-23-2003THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 23, 2003 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2003 in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided, with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney Joel Harvey in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES There were no minutes to approve. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims from the Finance Department for $755,101.61 and made a motion to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Fire Chief Mike Allen requested acceptance of the appointment of Jamey Neeley as Deputy Chief of Standards in the Fire Department. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. One bid was opened for HVAC for City Building maintenance from Meyers Mechanical in the amount of $6,888. This bid will be taken under advisement and awarded at a later date. RESULTS FIREFIGHTER GRIEVANCE A. Henry moved to deny the grievance second by Metzger. Goodwin asked for comments and Henry said that it is her belief that it is within management's rights to set those parameters and also as a taxpayer that is her expectation that the entire staff would be EMT personnel and if they felt strongly about this issue, they should consider putting it in next year's contract. Metzger concurred with Henry and the motion was passed on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
