HomeMy Public PortalAbout16-9278 Attorney to Develop a Progressive Discipline Policy for All Employees Sponsored by: Vice Mayor Kelley RESOLUTION NO. 16-9278 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DEVELOP A PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE POLICY FOR ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY NOT COVERED BY A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The City does not currently have an established progressive discipline policy for it employees; and WHEREAS, The City must ensure that all employees are treated fairly in the discipline process; and WHEREAS, The City Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the City to direct the City Manager and the City Attorney to develop a progressive discipline policy for all employees of the City not covered by a collective bargaining agreement; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference; Section 2. The City Manager and the City Attorney are hereby directed to develop a progressive discipline policy for all employees of the City not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and to bring the same back to the City Commission within sixty (60) days of this resolution. Section 3. The policy to be developed shall not apply to individuals appointed by the City Commission or the City Manager. Resolution No. 16-9278 Section 4.
