SUBJECT: DONATION TO THE CITY FROM AMIDA SOCIETY
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council accept the donation of $5,000 to the City from the
Amida Society.
BACKGROUND:
On July 27, 2016, the City received an inquiry from the Amida Society desiring to donate
funds to help offset the costs of electricity at the cooling center at Live Oak Park.
ANALYSIS:
Amida Society in Southern California is an organization established and financed by Pure
Land Buddhism. Per California Government Code Section 37354, all gifts are subject to
acceptance or rejection by the City Council.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
By accepting this donation, the City Council will promote or further the City's Strategic Goal
of Good Govern ance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
These funds will be recognized in the General Fund and will offset the cost of electricity for
the cooling center at Live Oak Park.
