HomeMy Public PortalAbout60-015 (03-15-60) Uo-1� RESOLUTION N0. 60-15 RESOLUTION ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES AND THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE .OF PER DIEM WAGES FOR LEG�L HOLIDAYS AND OVER- TIME WORK IN THE LOCALITY FOR EACH CRAFT OR TYPE OF LABORER, WORKMAN, OR MECHANIC NEEDED TO EXE- CUTE THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING AND DELIVERING CERTAIN MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE HEREINAFTER MENTIONED IMPROVEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS AND SPECIFICflTIONS N0. 1 959-J-3 IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF A PORTION OF PENDLETON AVENUE BETWEEN ELM AVENUE AND ATLANTIC AVENUE BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF VITRI- FIED CLAY PIPE SANITARY SEWERS, TOGETHER.WITH ALL INCIDENTAL AND APPURTENANT WORK. � BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood., California, as follows: WHEREAS, pursuant to an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, approved April 24, 1937, and known as the "Labor Code," the City Council of the City of Lynwood is required to ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for legal holidays and overtime work, in this locality for each craft or type of laborer, worl�nan, or mechanic need.ed to execute the proposed contract for the• construction of 8-inch vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewers, 6-inch vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer house laterals, and manhole, including all incidental and appurtenant work in Pendleton Avenue between the northerly prblongation of the center line of Elm.Avenue as said. Elm Avenue exists southerly of Pendleton Avenue and the northerly prolongation of a line-which is 63.5o feet easterly of and parallel to the westerly line of Lot 15 in Tract 5103,.as recorded in Book 53, page 55 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, in accordance with plans and speci£ications No. 1 959-J-3 on file in the of£ice of the City Clerk of the said City of Lynwood. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does h�� hereby resolve as follows: Section l. Any classification omitted herein, not less than $2.50 per hour plus employer payments set forth in the collective bargaining agreement applicable to the class or classification of the workman or mechanic involved. Provided that notwithstanding the general provisions con- tained herein, flagman, guards, and watchmen shall be paid one and one-half times the prevailing rate for overtime (overtime shall be time worked in excess of eight hours per day or forty hours per week), .and the straight prevailing rate for time worked on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays where such time d.oes not constitute overtime. The foregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon a working day of eight hours, and in the event that laborers, worlrnien, or mechanics are.employed less than eight hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight. -3-� ,- The rate of compensation for any classification not listed in the schedule, but which may be required to execute proposed. work, shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates specified for similar and comparable classification or for those performing similar or comparable duties.
