HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1987-12-28 - CC~ 465 SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 28, 1987 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on the above date at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Richards in the chair. Councilmember Heine, Henning, Morris, We11s, Richards answered the roll call. ~ Also present were City Manager Gomez and Associate City Attorney Richard J. Morillo. It was moved by Councilmember Heine, seconded by Councilmember Henning to adjourn to the Lynwood Redevelopment Agency at 5:32 p.m. Council reconvened at 5:47 p.m. SCHEDULED MATTERS: It was moved by Councilmember Henning, seconded by Councilmember Heine to 'receive and file with the City Council, the Lynwood Re de- LRA velopment Agency's Annual Report for fiscal year 1986-87 as rec{uir- Annual ed by Health and Safety Code Section 33080 et. sec{. RESOLUTION N0. 87-178 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL Res No. OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE APPROPRIATIONS OF FUNDS TO 87-178 COVER ENCUMBERED PURCHASE ORDERS OUTSTANDING AT THE END OF THE 1986-87 FISCAL YEAR." was presented. It was moved by Councilmember Henning, seconded by Councilmember Morris to adopt the two foregoing resolutions. It was moved by Councilmember Henning, seconded by Councilmember Wells to adopt the resolution. Law: Claude Law, 3866 Walnut, spoke regarding water bill increases various information pamplets, street sweeping program and the MSI report. COUNCIL ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: Councilmember Heine wished everyone a happy new year. Councilmember Henning spoke regarding the job training programs and asked for an update from Personnel Manager Doug Robinson. Personnel Personnel Robinson made presentation on the different phases, Mgr: job application filings and status of the programs up to the training present time. Stated a report will be available to Council at programs the next meeting. C/Henning: Councilmember Henning also spoke regarding gang violence in the gang city. Feels more aggressive action should be taken to stop the activity senseless killing. Lt. Sieber: '" Lt. Sieber, Lynwood Sheriff Department, spoke regarding the homicides high homicide and crime rate. Stated a report would be forth and crime coming to Council on the overall crime situations and the _r.. rate increase in Sheriff personnel in an attempt to stop gang activity. C/Wells: Councilmember Wells questioned the enforcement of the curfew curfew law law and increased sheriff personnel. C/Morris: Councilmember Morris spoke regarding the cars with extremely loud cars with music and what could possibly be done. Wished everyone a happy loud music new year.
