HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-09-2011THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 9, 2011 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 9, 2011, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson, Dian Lawson and Tony Foster. Also attending were City Attorney Walt Chidester, Sergeant Curtis Leverton and Police Chief Kris Wolski. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the June 2, 2011 meeting. Foster moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment for June 10, 2011 in the amount of $180,178.15. She explained of that total $61,012.70 was paid to the Henry County Sheriff for payment to PACE fund for forfeiture payments made to the City in error and $51,091.06 was paid to Chase Equipment Finance for the lease payment for 4 of 5 Street Sweepers. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Foster. The motion was unanimously passed. STREET CLOUSURES A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Sergeant Curtis Leverton and submitted by Helen Manning from Rock Solid Ministries, for the closure of Saylor Street on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for horse rides for the children attending their Vacation Bible School. Foster moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Sergeant Curtis Leverton and submitted by Pastor Dale Dangerfield from Restoration Outreach Centre, for the closure of North 19th Street beginning at North "C" Street and continuing to North "E" Street on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 Board of Works Minutes June 9, 2011 Page 2 of 2 PM for their church picnic. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Foster. The motion was unanimously passed. C. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Sergeant Curtis Leverton and submitted by Bruce Wissel on behalf of the Reeveston Neighborhood Association, for the closure of Reeveston Road from South 19th Street to South 21st Street on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rain date of Sunday, August 7, 2011 for their neighborhood picnic. Foster moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. D. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Sergeant Curtis Leverton and on behalf of The National T- Bucket Alliance from Dayton, Ohio for the closure of North "E" Street from North 10th Street to Fort Wayne Avenue and Fort Wayne Avenue from North "D" Street to North "E" Street on June 22, 2011 starting at 10:00 AM for parking during their visit to the area. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Foster. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Robinson brought to the board a request that was presented by Police Chief Kris Wolski for the approval of Contract No. 88 -2011 with Middletown Cycle for the purchase of four 2010 Can -AM Spyder motorcycles for the Police Department in the total amount of $68,296.00. Foster moved to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously.
