5 THE POSITION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD WITH
6 RESPECT TO DOCKET N0. 5645 ET AL., PACIFIC-
7 SOUTHWEST LOCAL SERVICE CASE, BEFORE THE '
8 CIVIL AERONAUTICS.BOARD.

10 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a municipal I
11 corporation situated in the County of Los Angeles, California;
12 . and
13 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood had a population of

�;��� population of approximately 31,000 in 1959 and

� � 18 approximately 300 persons; Jorgensen,Stee1 Company employing
19 between 200 and 300 persons; Whitaker Valve Company employing

22 WHEREAS, Western Gear Company has plants along

the Pacific Coast and is in need`of scheduled air transporta-

tion; and

WHEREAS, the estimated driving time between Lynwood

and the International Airport in Los Angeles is forty-five

minutes, and the estimated'driving time between the City of

Lynwood and the Long Beach Municipal Airport is approximately

thirty minutes; and

_ WHEREAS, there is a need for scheduled air transporta-

tion at the Long Beach Municipal Airport to serve the residents

� of the City of Lynwood and surrounding area;

1 � NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Lynwood resolves as
� � 2 follows:
3 Section 1. That the needs and convenience of the
4 traveling public and business firms make it necessary that
5 additional and improved scheduled air service be provided
6 at the Long Beach Nfunicipal Airport in order to better serve
7 the traveling public and employees of industrial aoncerns
8 in the City of Lynwood. �
9 Sec. 2. The adoption by the City Council of this
10 �resolution is not to be construed as endorsi
ng or favoring
11 the appl'ication of any specific airline in this proceeding.
12 The interest of the City of Lynwood is to assist the Civil
� 13 'Aeronautics Board in its determination of the need for new
o m � 14 and:improved acheduled airline service between the Lon�'
m���°� 15 Beach Municipal Airport and certain other cities in California
