4 � THE CITY OF LY1Wd00D, CALIFORNIA, STATING
S ', THE POSITION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD WITH
6 RESPECT TO DOCKET N0 7984 ET AL., SOUTHERN
. 7 TRANSCONTINENTAL SERVICE CASE, BEFORE THE
8 CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD,

' 10 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a municipal corporation
11 situated in the County of Los Angeles, California; and
' 12 WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood had a population of
13 approximately 25,000 persons in 1950 and an estimated population
� 14 of approximately 31,000 in 1959; and. ,
- 15 PdHEREAS, there is located in the City of Lynwood the -
16 industrial firms of Western Gear Compai�y employing approximately
17 300 persons; Jorgensen Steel Company employino between 200 and
1$ '300 persons; Whitaker Valve Company employing approximately 400
19 persons and Pacifie Iron and Steel Company employing approxi-
.
20 mately 500 persons; and �
21 WHEREAS, Western Gear Company has plants along the ',
22 . Pacific Coast and is in need of scheduled air'transportation;
- 23 and
24 WHEREAS, the estimated driving time between Lynwood
25 � and the International Airport in Los Angeles is forty-five
26 minutes, and the estimated driving time between the City of
27 Lynwood and the Long Beach Municipal Airport is approximately
28 thirty minutes; and
29 ' � WHEREAS, there is a need for scheduled air transporta-
30 �tion at the Long Beach Municipal� Airport to serve the residents
31 . of the City of Lynwood and surrounding area;
32 NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Lynwood resolves as follows:

1 Section 1. That the needs and convenience of the
2 traveling public and business firms malce it necessary that
3 additional and improved scheduled air service be provided at
4 the Long Beach Municipal Airport in order to better serve the
5 traveling public and employees of industrial concerns in the
6 City of Lynwood. That the Long Beach Municipal Airport should
� be designated as a terminal or intermediate point on all
$ domestic trunkline routes presently certificated or which
9 may be certificated as a result of the decisions in the
10 Southern Transcontinental Service Case, to the extent possible.
11 Sec. 2. The adoption by the City Council of this �I
12 resolution is not to be construed as endorsing or favoring
13 the application of any specific airline in this proceeding.
14 The interest of the City of Lynwood is to assist the Civil
_ 15 Aeronautics Board in its determination of the need for new
16 and improded scheduled airline service between the Long Beach
1 � Municipal Airport and the other points involved in the Southern
18 Transcontinental Service Case.
19 Sec. 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
20 of this resolution and shall forward a certified copy thereof
21 to Walhfred Jacobson, Long Beach City Attorney, Attention
22 Leslie E. Still, Jr., Deputy,
