BE IT RESOLVED lay the City Council o� the City o� Lynwood as
follows: �` '-
Section 1, That R�solution No 2035 of' tl?e City of Lynwood

adopted the 28th da.y of March; 1g47,- prescribes the time-and method of
paying �alaries and vaages of° the officers ancl employees of° said city,
as required by Section 37206 nf° the Government Code of' the St�,te ot"
Calit°ornia.
Section 2 , Tha.t the monthly salaries and wages for officers
and employees for the various classifications fallin� in the basic five-

step salary schedule, included herein, shall, be as followsa

�or tho�e employees under the basic five-step salary plan, the
beginning salary shall be at Step "A" or the lowest salary shown. How-
ever, where circumst�nces so warrant, appointment may be made at other
than the �irst step or after appointment an intermediate step may be
ski�ped when reeommended by the City Manager and approved by the City
Council, Increases throughout the remainder of the steps shall be given
at interv�ls of six months upon recommendation of the department head
and approval o� the City M�.nager until the highest or top step is
reached.
The city does not pay for overtime work. However, when over-
time work is neces�ary such overtime may be compensated for by time off
at the discretion of the department head,
Section 3 : That the monthly compensation for officers and
employees in the various classifications not included in the basic five-
, step salary schedule ahall be as follows:

S�ction 5: Premium Pay To encourage employees in undertaking
outside study to the end that they may perform their duties in a more
efficient manner, � system of premium pay, over and above established
-- - pay schedules,-is hereby-established: ------ ---- _ _ ._.____,_ _ _ . _ _ _ __,
Premium pay is allowable for completed courses of approved
subjects at accredited schools and is fixed at $1.00 per month for each
semester hour of'saork satisfactorily completed by the employee, Maximum
premium pay is fixed at $20.00 per month.
A semester hour is dePined as one hour of classroom work per
week for one semester or 18 weeks, plus necessary outside study. Al1
courses ot° study must have prior approval by the department head and
City Manager in order to receive premium credit.
Accredited schools are herein defined as eolleges, junior
colleges or universities or sucri other institutions as may be approved
by the City Manager.
Suitable written certification from the school showing satis-
factory completion of each course shall be submitted to the Personnel
Of�icer for personnel records, Premium pay will commence the first day

of the month following the submission of the written certification.
The city wi).1 contribute 50/ of the cost of' tuition where the
cost of �uch tuition exceeds the sum of $10.00 per semester course.
The provisions of this section do not apply to hourly employees
or employees under�akin� an approved course on city time.
, Section 6 m Compensation for use of employee owned automobiles
for city business is established as follows:

Section 7 : Nothing herein contained shall be construed in any
wa.y aft`ecting Personnel Ordinanee No. 671 of° the City of Lynwood, or the
rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto,
Section 8 e This resolution shall be effective as of July 1,
1959 and Resolution No. 2822 is hereby repealed.
