RESOLUTION �SCERTAINING AND DETERMINING RATE,OF PER DIEM WAGES AND THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES FOR LEGAL HOLIDAYS AND OVER- TIME WORK IN THE LOCALITY FOR E�iCH CRAFT OR TYPE OF LABORER, WORKMAN, OR MECHANIC DPEEDED TO EXE- CUTE THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING AND DELIVERING CERTAIN MATERIAI,S AND SUPPLIES IN'CONNECTION WITH THE HEREIN;AFTER MENTIONED IMPROVEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLi:NNS AND SPECIFICATIONS N0. 1958-P-3 IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT.OF THE NORTH SIDE OF ABBOTT ROAD BETWEEN SAN LUIS AVENUE AND SAN JUAN AVENUE BY THE OONSTRUCTION OF CEMENT CONCRETE SIDEWAI,KS,,TOGETHER WITH ALL INCIDENTAL AND APPURTENANT WORK. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, as follows: WHEREAS, pursuant to an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, approved April 24, 1937, and known as the "Labor Code," I the City Council of the City of Lynwood is required to ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for legal holidays and, overtime work, in this locality for each craft or type of laborer, workman, or mechanic needed to execute the proposed contract for the necessary grading and the construction of cement concrete sidewalks, including all incidental and appurtenant work, on the north side of Abbott Road between the southerly prolongation of the center line of San Luis Avenue and the southerly prolongation of the center line of San Juan Avenue in Tract No. 5975 as recorded in Book 76, Pages 22 and 23 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, in accordance with Plans and Specifications No. 1958-P-3 on file in the office of the City Clerk of the said City of Lynwood. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby resolve as follows: Section l: The City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby ascertain and determine that the general prevailing rate of hourly wages, in the locality in which said work or improvement is to be done, £or each craft or type of laborer, workman, or mechanic needed to execute the contract for furnishing and delivering certain materials and supplies in connection with the improvement hereinabove described and in accordance with Plans and Specifications 1vo. 1958-P-3 on file -1- in the office of the City Clerk of said. city, is as follows: CRAFT OR TYPE OF LABORER, WORKMAN, OR MECHANIC R�1TE PER HOUR Apprentic'e engineer, including fireman, oiler, greaser $3,17 ' Asphalt or concrete spreading, mechanical tamping, or finishing machine operator j,71 Asphalt plant fireman 3,41 Asphalt raker and ironer 2.8g Bor�nan or mixer box operator (concrete or asphalt ` plant) 3.52 Carpenter 3.375 Cement dumper (on one cubic yard or larger mixers and handling bullc cement) 2.8g Cement mason 3.40 Concrete mixer operator - skip type. 3.17 Drivers of dump trucks (less than 4 yards water level) 2,83 Drivers of dump trucks (4 yards but less than 8 yards • water level) � 2,86 Drivers of dump trucks (8 yards but less than 12 yards water level) � 2,,91 Drivers of dump trucks (12 yards but less than 16 yards water level) 2.99 Flagman 2.68 Heavy duty repairman 3.71 Heavy duty repairman - helper 2,93 Laborer 2.68 , Motor patrol operator, including any type of power blade 3.81 . Sundays and holidays - one and one-half (1-1/2) times the above rates. Provided that not less than one and one-half times the pre- °' vailing rate shall be paid for any working time more than eight hours • during any one calendar day, and for time on Saturdays, Sundays, and � the several legal holidays, to wit: New Year�s Day, Decoration Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans� Day, Thanksgiving Day, and � Christmas Day. Provided that notwithstanding the general provisions contained herein, flagmen, guards, and watchmen shall be paid one and one-half times the prevailing rate for overtime (overtime sha11 be time worked in excess of eight hours per day or forty hours per week), and the straight prevailing'rate for time worked on Saturdays, Sundays, and _2_ holidays where such time does no� constitute overtime. The foregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon a + working day of eight hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen, or mechanics are employed less than eight hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight, The rate of compensation.for any classification not listed in the schedule, but which may be required to execute the proposed work, shall be commensura'te and.'in,accord with the rates specified for similar'and comparable classifications or for those performing aimilar or comparable duties.
