HomeMy Public PortalAbout2834 (08-05-58) � 2� �'� �� RESOLUTION N0. 2834 RESOLUTION ASCERT�INING AND DE�ERMINING RATE OF PER DIEM W99GES AND THE GENERAL PREV�IILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES FOR LEG�L HOLID,�YS AND OVER- T1ME WORK IN THE LOC�4LITY FOR E�CH CRAFT OR TYPE OF LABORER, WORKMI4N, OR MECHANIC NEEDED TO EXE- CUTE THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING ,�ND DELIVERING CERTAIN MATr.RI�LS AND SUPPLIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE HEREINAFTER MENTIONED IMPROVEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH PL.�NS AND SPECIFIC�iTIONS N0. 1958-G-3 IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE•NORTH SIDE OF ABBOTT ROAD BETWEEN WASHINGTON.,..,, AVENUE 40ND J�CKSON AVENUE BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF �;' CEMEI�ST CONCRETE SIDEW�LKS, TOGETHER WITH ALL INCIDENTAL AND APPURTENANT WORK, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, ae follo�.as: - WHEREAS, pursuant to an flct of the Legislature of the State of California, approved April 24, 1937, and known as the "Labor Code," �. the City Council of the City of Lynwood is required to ascertain the general prevailing rate o£ per diem wages for legal holidays and, overtime work, in this locality for each craft or type o£ laborer, workman, or mechanic needed to execute the proposed contract for the � necessary grading and the construction of cement concrete'sidewalks, including all incidental and appurtenant work, on the lorth side of � Abbott Road between the southerly prolongation of the westerly line of Washington Avenue and the southerly prolongation of the easterly line of Jackson Avenue in Tract No. 6436 as recorded in Book 70, Pages 16 and 17 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, in accordance with Plans and Specifications No: 1958-G-3 on file in the office of � the City Clerk of the said City of Lynwood. � NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does • hereby resolve as follows: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby ascertain and determine that the general prevailing rate o£ hourl,y wages, in the locality in which said work or improvement is to be done, for each craft or type of laborer, workman, or mechanic needed to execute the contract for furnishing and delivering certain materials and suppliea in connection with the improvement hereinabove described -1- and in accordance with Plans and Specifications No. 1958-G-3 on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city, is as follows: . Sundays � � and holid.ays - one and one-half (1-1/2) times the above rates. �. Provided that not less than one and one-half times the pre- f vailing rate shall be paid for any working time more than eight hours � during any one calendar day, and for time on Saturdays, Sundays, and the several legal holidays, to wit: New Yearts Day, Decoration Day, , Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans� Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Provided that ro�tw�thstanding the general provisions contained herein, flagman, guards, and watchmen shall be paid one and one-hal£ l times the prevailing rate £or overtime (overtime shall be time worked. in excess of eight hours per day or forty hours per weelc), and the -2- straight prevailing rate for time worked on Saturd'ays, Sundays, and holidays where such time d.oes not constitute overtime, Tne £oregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon a � working day of eight hours, and in the event that laborers, workinen, or mechanics are employed less than eight hours per day�,- the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight.
