Forbes, AICP , Community Development Director {}'" - By: Jennifer Venters, Planning Secretary SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF AUGUST 9, 2016 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission (Commission) actions from their meeting of August 9, 2016. BACKGROUND: On August 9, 2016, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the August 9, 2016 meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Cordes, Leung, O'Leary, Vice-Chair Marston, Chair Haddad Absent: Commissioner-None Excused: Commissioner-None City Council September 6, 2016 Page 2 of 3 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of July 12, 2016. 3. PUBLIC HEARING A. A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO ESTABLISH A 7,891 SQUARE FOOT KARAOKE TELEVISION (KTV) BUSINESS LOCATED IN THE CAMELLIA SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER The Commission continued the above request to September 27, 2016. The site is zoned C-2 and is designated General Commercial by the General Plan. B. A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A DANCE STUDIO LOCATED AT 5206 ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD The Commission approved a request for the establishment of a dance studio located at 5206 Rosemead Boulevard. The business site for the dance studio is approximately 1,500 square feet and is approved to provide lessons for up to ten students at any given time. Though the business has been approved to operate from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week , the applicant intends to close the business from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. and provide private lessons in the evening. The site is zoned C-2 and is designated General Commercial by the General Plan . 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS -None 5. NEW BUSINESS -None 6. COMMUNICATIONS-None 7. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER Planning Manager Reimers announced that the joint meeting of the General Plan Advisory Committee and Planning Commission is scheduled for Tuesday August 30, the proposed mixed use project located at 5935 Temple City Boulevard is scheduled for September 13, and that all planning staff will be attending the APA California Conference scheduled October 22 through 25. 8. ADJOURNMENT The Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:54 p.m. City Council September 6, 2016 Page 3 of 3 CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Approval of the Commission actions of August 9, 2016 furthers the City's Strategic Goals of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year 2016-17 City Budget.
