A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
SETTING FORTH THE SALARIES BY CLASSIFICATION OF ITS
OFFICERS AND EMPIAYEES.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood as
follows:
Section 1 . That Resolution No. 2035 of the City of Lynwood
adopted the 18th day of March, 19�7, Prescribes the time and method of
paying salaries and wages of the officers and employees of said city
as required by Section 37206 of the Government Code of the State of
California.
Section 2 . That the monthly salaries and wages for officers
and employees for the various classifications falling in the basic five-
step salary schedule, included herein, ahall be as follows:

Additional compensation, over and above the basic five-step
aalary schedule, shall be paid to officers and employees during such time
as they are assigned to the following duties: �

For those employees under the basic Five-step salary plan, the
beginning salary shall be at Step "A" or the lowest salary shown, How-
ever, where circumstances so warrant, appointment ma.y be made at other
than the first step when recommended by the City Ma.nager and approved
by the City Council. Increases throughout the remainder of the steps
shall be given at intervals of six months upon recommendation of the
department head and approval of the City Ma.nager until the highest or top
step is reached.
The city does not pay for overtime work. However, when over-
time work is necessary such overtime may be compensated for by time off
at the discretion of the department head.
Section 3: That the monthly compensation for officera and
employees in the various classifications not included in tYie basic five-
step salary schedule shall be as follows:

Section 5: Premium Pay, To encourage employees in undertaking
outside study to the end that they may perform their duties in a more
efficient manner, a system•of premium pay, over and above established
pay achedules, is hereby established.
Premium pay is allowable for completed courses of approued
sub,�ects at accredited schools and iS fixed at $1.00 per month for
each semester hour of work satisfactorily completed by the employee.
Approved courses completed subsequent to July 1, 1955 will receive 50� '
credit. Maximum premium pay is fixed at $20.00 per month.
A semester hour is defined as one hour of classroom work per
week for one semester or 18 weeks, plus necessary outside study. All
courses of study must have prior approval by the Department Head and
City Manager in order to receive premium credit.
Accredited schools are herein defined �s colleges, Junior
colleges or universities or such other institutions as may be approved
bythe City Manager.
Suitable written
certification from the school showing satis-
factory completion of each course shall be submitted to the Personnel
Officer for personnel records. Premium pay will commence the first day
of'the month following the submission of the written certification.
The city will contribute 50� of the cost of tuition where the
cost of such tuition exceeds the sum of $10.00 per semester course.
The provisions of tnis section do not apply to hourly employees
or employees undertaking an approved course on city time.

Section 7 : Nothing herein contained shall be construed in any
way affecting Personnel Ordinance No. 671 of the City of Lynwood, or the
rules and regulations adopted.pursuant thereto.
Section 8 : This resolution ahall be effective as of July 1,
1958 and Resolution No. 2752 ia hereby repealed,
PASSID and ADOPTED this lst day of July, 1958 �
