A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL Q.F THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
SETTING FORTH THE SALARTES BY CLASSIFICATION OF ITS
OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood
as followse
Section 1 . That Resolut.ion No 2035 of the City of Lynwood
° adopted the 18th day of March, 1947, prescribes the time and method of
�aying salaries and wages of the oPficers and employees of said city
as required by Section 37206 of the Go,rernment Code of the State oi
California.
Section 2 . That the monthly s�lasies and wages for officers
and employees for the various classifications falling in the basic
five-step sa.lary schedule, included herein, shall be as follows:

For those employees under the basic five-step salary plan,
the beginning salary sha11 be at Step A or the lowest salary shown.
However, where circumstances so warrant, appointment may be made at
other than f:he first step when recommended by the City Manager and
approved by the City Councilo Tncreaz,es throughout the remainder of the
stepa sh�,i1 be given at intervals o£ six months upon recommendation
of the department head and approval of the City Manager until the high-
est or top step is re�,ched� �
The city does not pay f°or overtime work, However, when
overtime work is necessary such overtime may be compensated f'or by time
of.fl a.t the discretion of the depa,rtment head,

Approved courses completed subsequent to July 1, 1g55 will receive 50%

A semester hour is defined as one hour of. classroom work
per week for one semester or 18 weeks, plus necessary outside study,
All courses of study muvt have prior approval by the departme:it head
and City Pflanager in order to receive premium credit,
Accredited schools are herein defined �s colle�es, junior
colleges or universities or such other institutions.as may be approved
by the City Manager
Suit�able written certi.fication from the school showing sa.tis-
factory completion of each course sha11 be submitted to the Personnel
Ofiic::,°.f°or pe.rsonnel records. Premium pay will commence the first

SETTING FORTH THE SALARIES BY CLASSIFICATION OF ITS
OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood as
follows:
Section 1. That Resolution No. 2035 of the.City o£ Lynwood
adopted the 18th day of March, 1947, prescribes the time and method of
paying salaries and wages of the officers and employees of said city
as required by Section 37206 of the Government Code of the State of
California. .

For those employees under the basic five-step salary plan, the
beginning salary shall be at Step ."A" or the lowest salary shown. How-
ever, where circumstances so warrant, appointment may be made at other
than the first step when recommended by the City Ma.nager and approved
by the City Council. Increases throughout the remainder of the steps
shall be given at intervals of six months upon recommendation of the
department head and approval of the City Manager until the highest or top
step is reached,
The city does not pay for overtime work. However, when over-
time work is necessary such overtime may be_compensated for by time off
at the discretion of the department head.

Section 5: Premium Pa , To encourage employees in undertaking
outside study to the end that they may perform their duties in a more
efficient manner, a system of premium pay, over and above established
pay schedules, is hereby established.
Premium pay is allowable Por completed courses of approved
subjects at accredited schools and i� fixed at $1,00 per month for
_ _ each semester hour of work satisfactorily completed by the employee. _
Approved courses completed subsequent to July 1, 1955 Will receive 50�
credit. Maximum premium pay is fixed at $20.00 per month.

of the month following the submission of the written certification.
The city will contribute 50� of the cost of. tuition where the
cost of such tuition exceeds the sum of $10.00 per semester course.
The provisions of this section do not apply to hourly employees
or employees undertaking an approved course on�city timee

way affecting Personnel Ordinance No. 671 of the City of Lynwood, or the '
rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto.
Section 8: This resolution shall be effective as of July 1,
195$, and Resolution No. 2752 is hereby repealed, '
