RESOLUTION N0. 2689
IN THE MATTER OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF
WRIGAT ROAD BETWEEN FERNWOOD AVENUE AND CEN-
TURY BOULEVARD BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF VITRI-
FIED CLAY PIPE SANITARY SEWERS, TOGETHER WITH
ALL INCIDENTAL AND APPURTENANT WORK.
RESOLUTION ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING RATE
OF PER DIEM WAGES AND THE GENERAL PREVAILING
RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES FOR LEGAL AOLIDAYS AND
OVERTIME WORK IN THE LOCALITY FOR EACH CRAFT
OR TYPE OF' LABORER, WORKMAN,� OR MECHANIC NEEDED
TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING AND DE-
LIVERING CERTAIN MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES IN CON-
NECTION WITH T[� F�OVE MENTIONED IMPROVEMENT IN
ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS N0. �

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lynwood,
California, as follows:
WHEREAS, pursuant to an Act of the Legislature of the S.tate
of Ca-lifornia, approved April 24 1937 and known as the "Labor'Code,"
the.City Council of the City of LynWood is required. to ascertain the
gen�ral prevailing rate of per d.iem wages fo.r legal holidayu and over-
- time.work in this locality for each craft or type of laborer, work-
man, or mechanic need.ed to execute the proposed. contract for the con-
struction of curbs, gutters, driveways, and sid.ewalks, and. the removal
of existing parkways, driveways, curbs, and portions of sid.ewalks,
includ.ing all incidental and- appurtenant work in Wright Road. between
Fernwood.Avenue and. Century Boulevard, in accordance with Plans and
Specifications No. 1956-a-3 on file in the office of the.City Clerk
of the said City of Lynwood..
NOW, THEREFORE, the bity Council of the City of Lynwood.
d.oes hereby resolve as follows:
Section l: The City Council of the City of Lynwood d.oes
hereby ascertain and determine that the general prevailing rate of
hourly wages, in the locality in which said. work or improvement is
to be done, for each craft or type of laborer, worlffnan, or mechanic
need.ed to execute the contract for furnishing and. d.elivery certain
materia.ls and supplies in connection with the improvement hereinabove
described. and. in accord.ance with Plans and Specifications No. 1956-A-3

on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, is as follows:

Provided that not less than one and one-half times the prevailing
rate shall be paid.for any working time more than eight hours during
any one calendar d.ay, and for time on Saturd.ays, Sundays, and the
several 1ega1 holidays, to wit: New Years Da.y, Decoration Day,
Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and.
� Christmas Day.
Provided that notwithstanding the general provision contained
herein, flagmen, guards,.and watchmen sha11 be paid. one and one-half
time the prevailing rate for overtime (overtime shall be time worked.
in excess of eight hours per d.ay or forty hours per week), and the
straight prevailing rate for time worked. on Saturdays, Sund.ays, and
holidays where such�time does not constitute overtime.

The foregoing prevailing wage sched.ule is based upon.a
working day of eight hours, and in the event that laborers, workmen,
or mechanics are employed. less than eight hours per d.ay, the rate of
per diem wages sha11 be deemed to be that fraction of the foregoing
rates that the number of hours o£ employment bears to eight.
The rate of compensation £or any classification not listed
in the sched.ule, but which may be required to execute the proposed
work, shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates specified.
