CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.04-11
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATION TO
THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES (DNR)
FOR TRAIL CONNECTION
WHEREAS, the Minnesota DNR provides qualifying sponsors with funding to assist
with the development of trail connections; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Local Trail Connections Program is to promote
access between where people live and significant recreation facilities; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Sioux Drive Trail connects the residents of Medina and
neighboring cities to the Uptown Hamel area and the City's 40-acre Hamel Legion
Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina 2000-2020 Comprehensive Plan, adopted on
September 11, 2000, identifies the Sioux Drive Trail as a Proposed City Trail as cited
in the map of Existing & Proposed Parks, Trails, Open Space and Natural Features;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina Trail Study, approved by the City Council on July 1,
2003, identifies the Sioux Drive Trail as a High Priority Trail for development.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, City of Medina
approves the submission of the Local Trail Connection Grant to the Minnesota DNR
to assist in the funding of the Sioux Drive Trail, which would connect the Uptown
Hamel area from Hamel Road north to Trunk Highway 55.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, City of Medina agrees to
fund the non -grant share of the project with local funds.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Lane and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof.
Workman, Lane, Zietlow, Brinkman
And the following voted against same: (Absent: Smith)
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
