RESOLUTION N0. 2552
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNTi700D AUTHORIZING
COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT N0. 1 TO ACQUIRE '
REFUSE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SITES.
WHEREAS, County Sanitation District No. 1 of Los Angeles
County is authorized to acquire by gift, purcha,se, condemnation.or
otherwise, real or personal property necessary or convenient for
the construction, maintenance, and operation oP a refuse collection
and disposal system; and
WHEREAS, County Sanitation District No. 1 of Los Angeles
County presently desires to acquire by purchase suitable and exist-
ing disposal sites which are rapidly becoming unavailable; and
WI-IEREAS, by virtue of the provisions of Section 4741.2 of
the California Health & Safety Code it is provided that a District
board desiring�to construct, maintain and operate a rePuse collection
and disposal system within or without the District, in addition to
its sewage collection, treatment, and disposal system, shall obtain
the necessary consents from the governing bodies of the cities and
Prom the Board of Supervisors before adopting a resolution of its
intention to construct, maintain, and operate a refuse collection
and disposal system; and '
Y7HEREAS, County Sanitation District No. 1 of Los Angel'es
County has under consideration adoption of a resolution oP its
intention to construct, maintain, and operate a rePuse collection and
disposa.l system within the present boundaries of the district, including
all the incorporated limits of the City oi' Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Di!rectors of County Sanitation District
No. 1 of Los Angeles County did, on August 8, 195i authorize the levy
and collection of an ad valorem ta.x of 2¢ per $100 assessed valua.tion
of property located within the District for..the purpose of acquiring
funds with which to implement the provisions of the County Sanitation
District Act authorizing a District to construct, maintain, and operate
a refuse collection and disposal`system; and '

WHERE�S, the District has now accumulated and has on hand
a reserve of $157 ,876.65 from said 2¢ per $100 assessed valuation
tax levy, which is presently available for the acquisition of suit-
able refuse collection and�disposal sites; and
t�REAS, County Sanitation District No. 1 of Los Angeles
County desires the consent of the City of Lynwood, as required by
Sections 4741.1 and 4741.2 of the California Health & Safety Code,
to the end that it may proceed with the acquisition of suitable and
presently available rePuse disposal sites;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of I
the City of Lynwood hereby consents, pursuant to the provisions of .
Sections 4741, 4741.1 and 4741.2 of the Health & Safety Code of the
State.oP CaliPornia, to the inclusion of the City of Lynwood in the
rePuse collection and disposal system to be constructed, maintained,
and operated by County Sanitation District No. 1 of Los Angeles
County within the present boundaries of the. District.
