A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY TO ESTABLISH A NEW ZONE
TO BECOME OPERATIVE ON JULY l 1957 IMMEDIATELY
FOLLOWING THE EXPIRATION OF CURRENT ZONE l, COM-
PRISING THE CENTRAL BASIN AREA OF THE LOS ANGELES
COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the purchase of Colorado River water for spread.ing
in Centra.l Basin has been successfully accomplished. each year since
1953 by the Los Angeles County Flocd. Control District und.er its Zone
1 program, and.
WHEREAS, the ad.d.ition of substantial volumes of new water
to augment the failing local supply of the Central Basin is of great
benefit to the inhabitants thereof and is a practical necessity for
the cities, communities, and ind.ustries situated. therein, and
WHEREAS, un.d.er provisions of the Los Angeles County Flood.
Control Distric� Act the water conservation program will cease on
June 30, 1957, because of the automatic expiration of Zone l, and.
WHEREAS, The general welfare of the Central Basin area will
be seriously impaired if the conservation of imported. Colorad.o
River water is discontinued.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TI� City Council of the
City of L�nwood. that the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County be, and is hereby, urged to establish a new zone under the Los
Angeles County Flood. Control District to become operative on July l,
1957 and. to include substantially the same territory comprising the
present Zone 1, in ord.er that the program of coneerving Colorado River
wa�er for the beneficial use of resid_ents of Central Basin may be con-
tinued. without interruption, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and is hereby,
instructed to furnish a certified. copy of this resolution to the Honor-
able Board. of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles and. to furnish
each Supervisor a copy of said. resolution.
