LYNWOOD_CITY COUNCIL NOVEMBER 12 1998 �
The City Council, of the City of Lynwood met in a Special Session in the City Hall,
11330 Bullis Road, on the above date at 9:06 a.m.
Present were Councilman Byrd, Richards, Sanchez, Mayor Pro Tem Reyes and
Mayor Rea.
Also present' were Interim City Manager Davis, City Attorney Thever, City Clerk

Hooper, City Treasurer Pygatt and Department Heads.

i j. City Cderk Hooper announced the Agenda had been duly posted in accordance with The
Brown Act.

Interim City Manager R. Davis explained how the confiscated vendors evidence to be Davis
destroyed could be donated to benefit the Central America Disaster Relief.
It was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Reyes, seconded by Councilman Byrd, to donate the
confiscated goods from Vendors to.the Central America Disaster Relief and adopt;

Interim City Manager R. Davis explained and updated council on the status of the
' Lynwood Plaza and the overtime required to have two sheriff cars patrol the area. Dav i s
MayorPro Tem Reyes stated this'has been an ongoing problem and other cities encounter Reyes
the same problem. '
Councilman Richazds stated that the Sheriffs Department has the resources to control Richards
'these problems for other cities and should be able to do the same for our city. "
. Councilman Byrd requested a meeting with Council, Staff, Sheriffs Department and the Byrd

.� Public Works Director Joseph Wang explained the importance of cutting and.-trimming Wang
trees around the�city of Lynwood. Councilman Richards agrees that this is an ongoing
problem, numerous complaints have come in and it is time something is to be done
promptly. Councilman Richards has some questions and issues and would like the
Califomia Western Arborist, Inc. representative address the council. �

Duncan Lee Duncan from California Western Arborist, Inc. explained that there aze more than 70
trees in the city of Lynwood that need to be trimmed or cut. Lee Duncan asked that prior
contract be paid in full. �

Councilman Richazds moved to adopt the resolution as redrafred and that council

approves an agreementiand pay foi emergency tree services not to exceed the funded
amount, seconded by Couricilman Byrd. �

Rea Mayor Rea advised the� Council about future regular meetings: November 17 1998, a
Special meeting on November 24 at 6:00 p.m. for the regular ,Council ,meeting of
December 1, 1998. �

Mayor Pro Tem Reyes would like to see that home dollars be used properly so the statue
Reyes of limitation be met and not be presented with last years concems..

process. Deny's, Long Beach Blvd., and Imperial Hwy.
�i chards Councilman Ricliards requested that the City Attorney Shan Thever,be directed to discuss
and re-negotiate with theiLynwood Press Wave to seek accountability for the existing
contract.
Having no further discussion, it was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Reyes, seconded by
Councilman Richards and �carried to adjourn at 10:50 a.m.
