The City Council is requested to review the Parks and Recreation Commission actions
of their meeting of July 21, 2010.
BACKGROUND
Following is a summary of actions taken at the July 21, 2010 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1. REORGANIZATION OF COMMISSION
The Commission reorganized and elected Andrea Olivas as Chairman and Dan
Arrighi as Vice -Chairman for Fiscal Year (FY) 2010-11.
2. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY YOUTH FOOTBALL TO WAIVE THE 51%
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR RESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC
FIELDS AT LIVE OAK PARK
Temple City Youth Football submitted their rosters to verify residency as required
by section 3582 of the Temple City Municipal Code. The rosters showed that 56 of
the 112 registered participants, or 50%, are Temple City residents. The
Commission approved a waiver of the 51% residency requirement for the 2010
season.
1 REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION
(AYSO) FOR APPROVAL OF AN INFLATABLE SOCCER GOAL FOR THEIR
2010 SOCCERFEST
The Commission approved the request from Temple City AYSO for use of an
inflatable soccer goal in conjunction with their annual Soccerfest on September 11,
2010.

4. DISCUSSION REGARDING SECTION 3582 OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL
CODE (TCMC) RELATIVE TO PERMITS FOR USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS
AT LIVE OAK PARK
The Commission began a review of Section 3582 of the TCMC relative to permits
required for organized use of the fields at Live Oak Park. The Commission
continued the item to a future meeting to allow staff time to survey other cities and
to develop recommendations for possible clarifications or code amendments.
