HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1978-04-11 - CCADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING APRIL 11, 197 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at 5 p.m. Mayor Higgins in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Green, Morris, Rowe and Higgins answered the roll call. Also present were City Attorney Murphy and City Manager Valliere. COMMITTEE AND ORGANIZATION APPOINTMENTS Mayor Higgins announced the following appointments: Organization Delegate Alternate Indpendent Cities of Los Angeles County ~~ League of California Cities County Sanitation District Southern California Association of Governments Lynwood Chamber of Commerce Southeast Mosquito Abatement District Southern California Rapid Transit Lynwood Unified School District Central Basin Municipal Water District Corridor Cities - I-105 Freeway Contract Cities E. Morris Los Angeles Public Library Advisory Board Mrs. Vivien Thompson Council discussed action to be taken with regard to the vacant City Treasurer position. State law mandates that the position be filled or a special election called within 30 days after creation of the vacancy. The matter of Mr. Dave Richman's eligibility to serve as City Treasurer is scheduled to be determined in Superior Court on April 20, 197. Mr. Robert Henning addressed the Council to express opposition to appointing a temporary City Treasurer, and stated that he would be in favor of calling a special election should the court determine that Mr. Richman is ineligible to serve as City Treasurer. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Green, Morris and Higgins. Noes: Councilman Rowe. Absent: None. Insurance The City Manager reported that the premium for insurance contract will be $30,000 less than last year's premium and re- renewal app'd r~uested authorization to renew insurance agreement with Cal-Surance. It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Green, that Council concur in the recommendation. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Green, Morris, Rowe, Higgins. Noes: None. Absent: None.
