The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a reguz
lar session in the City Hall, 11330 Buliis Road, on
above date at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Morris in the chair.
Councilmen Byork, Green, Higgins, Rowe, and Morris
answered the roll call.
Also present were City Attorney Murphy and City Manage~•
Valliere.
It was ~}oved by Councilman Rowe,. seconded by Councilman
Higgins, and carried, that minutes of adjourned regular
meeting of April 3, 1979 and regular meeting of April 3y
1979 be approved as written.
PROCLAMATION
~clamation The Mayor read a proclamation designating the week of
VATE PROP'TY April 15-21, 197g as "Private Property Week." It was

and carried, that the proclamation be adopted. Mr.
Bill Mallett, past President of Compton-Lynwood Beard
of Realtors, was present to accept the proclamation.

The City Manager requested .Council to approve specifi-
cations for a sma11, ride-on power sweeper and authorize
call for bids on May 8, 1979 at 11:00 a.m. The sweeper
will be purchased with grant funds under ~B-650, State
Litter Control Program. It was moved by Councilman
Byork, seconded by Councilman Rowe, and carried, that
call for bids be authorized.
The City Manager recommended Council accept property
dedications for public sidewalk construction at 1203
and 12412 Peach Street, respectively. RESOLUTION N0.

Coon. Rowe re Councilman Rowe stated that there is interest in
control of vacant land east of° Wright Road to the freeway, presently

The City Manager advised that an amendment to the
Animal Control Ordinance will be submitted at the next
regular meeting.
Mayor re The Mayor expressed optomism that work will commence
work on shortly Qn the Century Freeway. Councilman Higgins

W. Steck re William Steck, 11703 Long Beach Boulevard, addressed
Arden 'T'heatre, Council to complain about safety and fire hazards at
nuisance on the Arden Theatre; and nuisance on lot between Lynwood
Road and Louise Avenue. ~'he Mayor directed staff` t

Mr. Alfred Walker, 10850 Cornish Avenue, addressed
A. Walker Council to commend the Sheriff v s Department for

The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adm

Councilmen Byork, Green, Higgins, Rowe, and Morris
answered the roll call.
Alsq present were City Attorney Murphy and City Manager
Valliere.
The City Manager submitted the proposed B~xdget for
fiscal year 1979 ~ 1980.
Councilman Higgins stated that the proposed Peripheral
Canal will be discussed at Central Water Basin District
meeting on May 3, 1979.
Councilman Green commented on poor maintenance of
grounds between the Annex and Bateman Hall.
Councilman Higgins commented that an information bro~=
churesimilar to that published by the City of Lakewood
would. be desirable for Lynwood.
Councilman Green recommended that refreshments be pro~~
vided to children participating in th,e "Walk for
Litter" on May 19, 19'79•
Councilman Green expressed concern about the Meals on
Wheels Program being out of funds. It was moved by
Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman Higgins, and
carded, that the City Manager be authorized to advance
money for the Meals on Wheels Program until new grant
money is received. The Mayor recommended that the new
program be re-written to increase the tot~.l allotment.
The Mayor directed staff to investigs,te illegal news
racks at Chris and Pitts Restaurant.
Councilman Byork requested that the Real Estate Crdi~
Hance be enforced,
It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded, and
carpied that the meeting adjourn.
