HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1979-07-27 - CC_sp.~ .~ ~~ SPECIAL MEETING JULY 27, 1979 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above .date at 3:00 p.m. Mayor Morris in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Green, Higgins, Rowe, and Morris answered the roll call. Also present were City Attorney Murphy and Acting City Manager Lathrope. Council adjourned to executive session for discussion of I-105 Freeway Litigation. Following the executive session, the meeting was resumed. Lucille Kanka, Deputy, and Harvey Howard of Assembly- man Frank Vicencia's office were introduced. The Mayor also introduced Councilman Bill Green, City of Downey. Councilman Bill Green advised there would be a special meeting regarding freeway litigation on July 30, 1978 at 11:00 am in the City of Downey Council Chambers. (-~ S •_t ~_ ~, x.] i The City Attorney stated that Council had identified a number of problems and suggested that discussion of the remainder of Exhibit C be held at a later date to enable Council sufficient time for study and after Councilman Byork's meeting with Corridor Cities repre- sentatives. Acting City Manager Lathrope said there would be a bus leaving at 11:30 am on July 31, 1979 for the Federal Court building. He also stated that he and Councilman Green attended an Independent Cities Association. meeting and that each City was asked to send a letter of commendation to Senator Howard Berman regarding his recommendations on the Bail-out Assembly Bill. Council concurred that Acting City Manager be directed to write a letter to Senator Berman. Council asked Administrative Assistant Gerard Goedhart how the assembly bill would affect the City of Lynwood and Mr. Goedhart ~espond~l that the City would receive $250,000 as compared to $290,000 received last year.
