REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 5, 1980 Charles See plaque RES. 80-79 after public hearing on weeds abatement The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date, at 7:40 p.m. Mayor Green in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Morris, Rowe, Thompson and Green answered the roll call. Also present were City Manager Davis and City Attorney Murphy. SCHEDULED MATTERS: The Mayor presented a plaque to Charles See in appre- ciation of his 30 years of service to the City. The Mayor announced the time had arrived for public hearing on abatement of weeds on certain parcels of land within the City for the 1980-81 fiscal year. -The City Manager presented his report and informed Council that notices of public hearing had been mailed to the affected property owners. The Mayor inquired if there was anyone present who wished to be heard. As there was no response, it was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman Thompson, and carried, that the public hearing be closed. NEW BUSINESS: The City Manager recommended that Council authorize the Lunday_ purchase of 100 acre feet of water at $32.50 per acre foot from Lunday-Thagard Oil Company for the water year 1979-80 Thagard and authorize the Mayor to execute the necessary agreement. The City Manager reported on AB 2136 which would allow charges or taxes for police or fire protection voted upon by the AB 2136 people to be deducted from the State Income Tax, and re- supported commended that Council support AB 2136. It was moved by Councilman Rowe, seconded by Councilman Morris, and carried, that Council concur with the recommendation. The City Manager reported on SB 375 which would increase SB 375 temporary and permanent disability benefits and increase death benefits and recommended that Council o opposed ppose SB 375. Councilman Rowe requested that Council members receive copies of assembly and senate bills prior to receiving recommendations by management. It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Byork, and carried, that Council concur with the recommendation. RESOLUTION No. 80-83 .entitled: "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING AND APPROVING THE DEMANDS PRESENTED AND ORDERING WARRANTS DRAWN THEREFOR." was presented. Demands Councilman Rowe questioned Warrant No's. 7702, 7703 and 7704 for petty cash and moved that Council direct management to give a detailed itemization of Warrant No. 7704 for $3,185 and charged to the water fund. Santa Fe Land The City Manager recommended the purchase of 104 acre In~rovement Co. feet of water at a cost of $33 per acre foot from water purchase Santa Fe Land Improvement Co. for the water year 1979-80. It was moved by Councilman Thompson, seconded by Council- - man Byork, and carried, that Council concur with the recommendation and authorize the Mayor to execute the necessary agreement. The Mayor announced the passing of Kenneth L. Thompson on August 2, 1980. Kenneth L. It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Byork, and carried, that Council adjourn to executive session for discussion of litigation matters.
