AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
WHEREAS, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, through its Hometown Indiana Grant Program, has grant funding available for parks and recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond through its Parks and Recreation Department, is current involved in developing the Whitewater Gorge Park; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to apply for grant funding to assist with the development of the Whitewater Gorge Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, through its Hometown Indiana Grant Program, in order to assist
with the development of the Whitewater Gorge Park.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated for the development of the Whitewater Gorge Park.
4. The City of Richmond shall appropriate the following as the required match for the receipt of said grant:
$216,000 donated land from SPUR (30 acres @ $7,200/acre)
Passed and adopted this 1st day of June, 1998, by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
