SPECIAL MEETING

The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in�� a Special Meeting in Yhe Council � �
Chambers, 1 1330 Bullis Road on the above date at 10:20 a.m.
Mayor Pedroza presiding.
T � Councilman Byrd, Reyes, Richards, Rodriguez and Pedroza answered the roll call. '
Also present were City Manager Hempe, City Attorney Casso, City Clerk Hooper, and
- � City Treasurer Pygatt. � � �
City Clerk Hooper announced that the agenda had been duly posted in accordance with
the Brown Act.

� $16,000.00 for a Sister City Donation, when the City of Lynwood is in great need� of � �
funds, there •is a lot of�work that has to be done here in the City. Council should take care �
• , of the City first, does not support the Sister City Donation. - � � �
� � � Irene Garcia — Item #8 stated that she also.does not agree with donating $16,000.00� to the �
� Sister City, council should think about the CiYy's needs first � ��
Frank Calderon — Item #8 stated that he also does not agree with the Sister City Donation.
Larry McQuad — Item #7 spoke in regards to tlie AB 939 Compliance Order.

Mayor Pedroza — Stated that he would like for staff to iriclude the Trolley System as an � �

' Councilman Reyes stated he would like to discuss this Item after Close Session. ��
Item #7: SUBJECT: AB 939 COMPLIANCE ORDER

' On August 26 2003, staff inet with representatives of the Califomia lntegrated Waste ,
� Management Board to discuss� the AB 939 compliance order. The main subject of the ,
meeting was to comply with the .Boards recommendation for the full MRP of the !
, commercial waste .services. Staff is working with the Board to reconsider alternate �
programs to replace the MRF requirement therefore avoid the potential high cost to. the _ �
business owners. Staff is currently working on an alternate work plan. Staff will meet the
Board representatives on September 22, 2003 to review this plan. '

Item #8: SISTER CITY DONATIONS

The purpose of the item is� t� have the City Council authorize the �City Manager to �
appropriate funding for the shipment of donated items for the City of Talpa.

It was moved by Councilman�Reyes, second 6y Mayor Pedroza to appropriate $16,000
for the shipment of donated items for tHe City of Talpa.
