RESOLUTION NO. 18-9531
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,
FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA
LEAGUE OF CITIES, FLORIDA MUNICIPAL INSURANCE
TRUST, FOR PROPERTY, LIABILITY AND WORKERS
COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018-
2019, ACCEPTING AND IMPLEMENTING THE
REQUIRED CONDITIONS, AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED
$2,059,878.00; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka ("City") currently contracts with the Florida
League of Cities, Florida Municipal Insurance Trust, for property, liability and workers
compensation insurance; and
WHEREAS, the City's renewal with the Florida League of Cities, Florida
Municipal Insurance Trust, has been increased to an annual amount of$2,059,878 due to an
increase in employee payroll, additional vehicles added to the policy, property rates and
general liability increases; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the City to
renew its Agreement with the Florida League of Cities, Florida Municipal Insurance
Trust.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. AUTHORIZATION
The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City Manager to
enter into an agreement with The Florida League of Cities, Florida Municipal
Insurance Trust, for property, liability and workers compensation insurance for fiscal
year 2018-2019, accepting and implementing the required conditions, at a cost not to
exceed $2,059,878.00.
Section 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS.
Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re-lettered and corrections of
typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by the City
Manager, or the City Manager's designee, without need of public hearing, by filing a
corrected copy of same with the City Clerk.

Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption and is subject to the
approval of the Governor or his designee.

Description: The City's renewal with the Florida League of Cities has been increased to an annual
amount of$2,059,878 due to an increase in employee payroll, additional vehicles added
to the policy, property rates and general liability increases. A resolution of the City
Commission of Opa-locka, Florida authorizes the City Manager to enter into an
agreement with The Florida League of Cities for Property, Liability, and Workers
Compensation.

The FMIT Board of Trustees has approved a$4,000,000 return of premium for members that had property
coverage in the 2016-2017 Fund Year. The directive of the Board was to return property premium on the
renewing members for 2018-2019 that participated in the Trust's property program in 2016-2017. Based on
the property premiums paid in 2016-2017,the City of Opa-Locka can expect$13,971 in return premium should
they elect to renew coverage for the 2018-2019 policy year.
