shall be inereased by $1$.00 per month while or. sueh assignment.
The compensation of strest �aintenance men regularly assigned as �11
time sweeper operators sha11 be increased by $10.00 per month while on such assignment.
The City does not pay for overt5me work. However, when overtine wosk
is necessdx°y such overtime may be companeated for by time off during slaek periods
at the discretion of the flepartment head.
In those classifications where a ealary range is shown, beginning salary
shall be at the first step or loviest salary rate shown. Hor•ever, where circumstances
so warrant, appointment may be made at other than the first step when reaommended by
the City Manager and approved by the City Council. Increases through the remaindea°
o£ the steps shall be given at intervals of six months upon recommendation of the ' .
department head and anproval of the City Manager until the highest or top step is
reached.
Se�+ion 9; That additional pay £or etandby maintenance ser-rice fox
water department employees be fixed and establisheri as follov�s:
(�) Such water department employees as may be designated hy the City
Manager sha11 receive Two Dollars ($2.00) per each standby shift over a.nd above their
s°egul,ar monthly eompensation.
(b) That a standby shif� for a11 regular working days is hereby fixed
as a duty period estending from 5:00 p.m. 'to 8:00 a.m. of the following day. rrom
